Dr. Riccio had an interesting article regarding the relationship between various golf stats (FIR, GIR, pars, etc.) and score: http://www.probablegolfinstruc.. Newsletter/news09-07-04.htm

I never thought of tracking how close to the hole I am after a Pitch/Chip/Sand shot, or if my irons hit the green or not, but I find these interesting.

Right now, I track the stats Stracka allows us to enter, plus the distance to the hole once I get the ball on the green (3-putting from 50 feet isn't so bad, but 3-putting from 10 feet is terrible :P). It's really helped me see where the issues are in my game.

What about you? Which stats do you track when you're playing? Which ones would you be interested in tracking? Is there anything that's not on Stracka right now?

Fairway miss left right
Gir Miss long short left right
Distance of first putt
Chips

I do this myself then you can equate chips and distance to work on getting closer for an up and down for one.

Keeping the stat on chip/pitch shots from within 50 yds would be helpful for me...

1) did you hit the green?
2) if you hit the green what was the distance of your first putt?

The 3 things that I look at and work on the most is,
1. Fairways Hit. it's hard for me to score when I start off a hole in trouble.
2. GIR Have to know your yards with irons. I almost always club up and hit a soft iron and not push it and hit a hard iron.
3. Three putts. Three putts is the one thing that will take over my mind and can not get them out of my head and screw up a round. Work are NO 3 putts.
