I have acquired my dads old wood set of clubs and wanted to know is there a market and/or money to be made off of them? I was planning to hold on to them and display them in our "sports room" at the house. A little insight on would be greatly appreciated.

It would greatly matter on what kind of clubs they are, year of manufacture and those types of details. Can you post more info and some pics?

I have a set of my Dads old persimon woods . Don't know the value either but don't really care because I'm not selling them . I do have a old wood shaft putter I might sell though .

I have a pretty solid opinion on this subject. Not that I expect you to heed it, just that it is what it is.

I bought a set of BS clubs from a dude while stationed in Germany the 1st time in 1978. They didn't mean anything to me so I hocked 'em, or something like that. When I got back to the states my Dad gave me his set of clubs that my Mom had got him for Christmas 1969. They are Ram Tommy Bolt Lightning 500s. I made the first upgrade of my own in 1988 to Wilson Ultra System 45s & Yamaha graphite/graphite woods. In 2009 I upgraded to Callaway X-22s, FTi driver, X-Hot 3W, & X 5W. I've since gone through an FT 9 Tour, and Razr Hawk driver, and switched to a Taylor Made Rosa Monza Spider long putter.

I have all these clubs, polished, new grips (on the oldest set, they were shot all to hell), and ready to display on the wall in my "office." I'm in the process of making custom display racks. I'm just soooo glad I didn't get rid of the set of clubs that my Dad gave me along with all the rest. I can pull any one of them off the wall and remember at least ONE great shot that is burned into my memory. I didn't think this way when I was in my 20s and 30s, I just got lucky that I saved them and now I'm delighted to have them all.

I collect, buy and sell antique golf equipment and memorabilia. I can give you a value on just about anything.

I should say this...hold back your excitement. As it is with about everything just because they are old doesn't mean they are worth a ton. Even 100 years ago they made sub par clubs.

To give you an example...two different niblicks (think sand wedge)...one is stamped Carrick and the other is stamped Stewart. The Carrick is worth $8000, the Stewart about $125.
