Many of us have been debating who Corey should pick for the 4 open US Ryder Cup slots. Finally, the moment of truth arrives Tuesday morning, September 7th. If you were the Ryder Cup captain, what 4 players would you take for the American team?

Well it's ben back and fourth for me and it's a tough one. I'd choose Zach Johnson since he has experience in the Ryder Cup and has a solid 2010. Now it gets tricky. Ben Crane has been a half-lock for me for a while. Very consistent and solid year and even though he's played a little under average the last couple of weeks I would still give him the nod. Now it gets really tricky. Based on what I saw today, I think you have to pick Charley Hoffman. 4 rounds in the 60's at the Deutche Bank with a 62 in the final round to win by a few. Now it's process of elimination. BVP? No. Struggled the last few weeks and never been in Ryder Cup pressure. Cink? No. Even with experience he's played bad in 2010 and doesn't deserve it to me. Glover? No. No experience, bad year, no go. This might suprise some of you, but I'm going with J.B Holmes. Why? He played very well in 2008 going 2-0-1 and got a very important point on Sunday Singles that setup Furyk clinching the title. He's played good this year. By no means great, but length can be intimidating, and with DJ, Bubba, and Phil already on the team I think I would just barely have to give him the nod over Tiger. So my picks are Zach Johnson, Ben Crane, Charley Hoffman, and J.B Holmes.

1. Zach Johnson. I think he's the closest thing to a lock. He's played well for the majority of the year.

Now it gets really tricky.

2. Tiger Woods. If I were picking before the PGA, my answer would have been a resounding no. But, in the last 3 tourneys, he's finished T28, T12, and T11. This is more than almost any other candidate can say. As much as I would enjoy Tiger being snubbed, I don't think it will happen.

3. Stewart Cink. He's finished in the top 20 his last 4 tournaments, all of them with very strong fields. Also, he finished in the top 5 the last 3 years in the Accenture Match Play, so he's well-suited for the Ryder Cup format. Additionally, he won across the pond last year.

For me, now it gets really really tricky. This is almost a toss-up. I agree with you regarding taking a player who is currently playing good golf.

4. Nick Watney. I'm taking Watney in a very tough call over Charlie Hoffman. There's no denying Hoffman has played quite well the past 2 months. But Hoffman didn't even play in any majors this year, and he's only played in 2 over the last 3 years, both MC's. Watney has performed very well on tough courses with strong fields throughout the year. He did very well at both WGC events and 3 out of 4 majors this year. In Watney's last 6 tourneys he has 4 top 20's, with the other 2 finishes in the top 36. I think he's battle-tested and primed for this format.

How do you not have Woods on here?

1) TIGER
2) Zach JOHNSON
3) Stwart CINK
4) JB HOLMES

They're all great players but I think I'll take the better putters.

Because there are players who have been playing better than him. Enough said. If you say he should be on the team then you should pick Nicklaus, Palmer, and Watson to go with him.

Although I listed him, I don't see Woods as an automatic pick. His play is mortal this year. I'm fine if Woods is bypassed for Hoffman.

My thoughts exactly. I would love to see people cry and moan if Tiger isn't picked and all the controversy that would fall out from it. But I think Corey will pick him sadly.

1) TIGER
2) ZACK JOHNSON
3) STEWART CINK
4) J.B. HOLMES

Those are good picks. I think Anthony Kim's injury and Lucas Glover and Bo Van Pelt's recent play have diminished their chances. I think Ricky Fowler deserves consideration. He'd be higher than half the players on the Ryder Cup if you looked solely at this year's performance. If it were me, I'd put Ricky there instead of Stewart Cink. So my four would be:
1) TIGER
2) ZACK
3) RICKY
4) J.B.

Tiger, Cink, Z. Johnson and Rickie Fowler
Interesting to say the least.
Fowler will bring some spark; the others bring experience.

All of the picks make logical sense. I just think they're the wrong ones. Zach is a great pick, Tiger is a good pick, Rickie is a decent pick, and Cink is a ok pick. I thought J.B Holmes should have been on there instead of Cink.

My big question is what do all the Tiger haters do when he goes 4-0-0 and leads the U.S. to a landslide victory. Move to England and root for Ian Poulter?

My big question is, why would Pavin sit Tiger out in one match if you think he's capable of gong 4-0-0? And since you still maintain he's the best player on the planet, are you suggesting he should only play in four matches? He has never sat out a match in Ryder Cup play. Why should he do so now?
