there are always tips that just don't make sense or contradict other widely accepted tips... these things only serve to drive a golfer mad. I'd like to start a list of these things...
here's one: 1. the golf swing will bottom out where your head is. 2. you want the swing to hit bottom just after the ball. 3. keep your head behind the ball at all times. maybe it's just this 13.4 'capper that can't put this all together, what do you think? One of those things ain't right. |

The golf swing doesn't bottom out where your head is. Don't know where you heard that one...hope it wasn't a teaching professional giving you bad info...
The swing DOES bottom out at the point where your lead arm (left arm for right-handers) and the clubshaft form a straight line. That generally happens at a point roughly even with your shirt pocket...in other words, on the "target" side of the head. |

head down, chin up, left arm straight, stay on plane, start the back swing with the shoulders not the arms, don't over rotate, shaft parallel to the target line, start the downswing with the hips, strike down on the ball, hands behind the ball at address, hands in front of the ball at impact, finish balanced belt buckle to the target line... and above ALL!!! don't over think it! the swing should flow naturally...
I don't see what the problem is! |

# 1 is just not true
#2 is 100% true with your irons. If your divit is just infront of where the ball was then that means you have hit down on the ball like you are suppose to. #3 is 100% true with a driver. If you keep your head behind the ball then it helps you hit the ball with an assending blow. That makes the ball fly higher but with less spin and makes the ball go farther. |

Always heard, don't slide your hips, rotate them. Practice next to a couch to prevent the slide.
When I took lessons, the instructor made me focus on that. Then on School of Golf this week, he sets up next to a pole and says, move your hips 4 inches, try to hit the pole with your hip. |

Hit the ball with the back of your hand? What? this is golf not hand ball?? I use this all the time with my irons, to keep the back of my left hand at the target for as long as I can after the club hits the ball.
