Phil is my favorite player, let me get that out of the way to start off. But since Tigers fall from grace how come Phil hasn't stepped up? I know he has had alot going on with his family the last year and a half, but is this the reason for his so so play? Or has he simply reached his potential?

I would like nothing better than for Phil to overtake Tiger for the #1 player in the world rankings, but he doesnt seem to be able to get it done.

In light of the cancer his wife and mother are dealing with, do you think he is underachieving or overachieving?

Anyway I am rooting for him this weekend, and as always he and his family are in my prayers!

GOOD LUCK PHIL!

Nothing....JK.
His was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis; a lifelong disease of the immune system that causes raised, red patches, often with a silvery scale (psoriatic skin lesions) to appear on the skin, as well as pain, stiffness or swelling in joints.
Has not been playing well since this diagnoses.

It has to be the arthritis. After the Ryder Cup he's going to take a month off skipping the PGA Grand Slam to get rested and spend time with family before the WGC HSBC and Singapore Open in November. I think he may win another major before he's done. 5 at the most, I don't see him getting to 6, but next year he's got Augusta, Congressional, and Atlanta Athletic Club, 3 venues he could easily win at.

I think it is everything combined and is creating a lot of stress. He has had a lot to deal with this year including the pressure of not getting it done.

I like Phil also ..... But face it he is at his ceiling.
Phil does not have the mental make up to do what it takes to be the Worlds #1 player. This is not to say that he is "weak" because he has shown when his loyalty lies for years.

Lee Trevino said it best, if Phil was a less family oriented and had more of a killer instinct he would have fought Tiger for the top ranking better than he has. His game is great and he takes risks but more is needed to occupy the top spot.

The things with his family is unfortunate and I believe does affect him some. But for him not to show up and "take" over the #1 spot when it's there sitting there staring at him, says a lot. He couldn't do it when Tiger had it on LOCK and to not do it when Tiger is BARELY holding on to it .... SMH .....

I would like for him to have a Vijay type charge but he may be turning into Ernie Els ......

Phil is great. Phil beats himself more then any other golfer out there. He just can not keep his over working mind out of his shots. Maybe Phil is A.D.D. like Bubba?

Same thing they said about Tiger this year. People love to count there chickens before there even laid, nevermind the hatching!
