How can you tell that you should buy new clubs?
Which Golf ball should you use if your club head speed is 110 mph and why?

I always buy my clubs between now and April so I'm not losing money on green fees. If you're looking for a ball for club head speeds that high I'd say look at Nike One Vapor.

General questions, so I'll give you general answers.

Best time to buy new equipment is between now and the beginning of the calendar year. The reason is two-fold. It's a slow time of year for the retailers as the golf season is over in most locales and both retailers and manufacturers want to unload inventory before the new models come out, the bulk of which happens at the PGA Merchandising Show about a month into the new year.

110 MPH is a high swing speed. So you are looking for a relatively high compression ball. Why? Because it will give you more distance than a low compression ball. You'll want to be fitted for a number of other ball characteristics too. But to know what to recommend you'd have to know other things like your launch angle and shot shape.

I can usually tell just by when I have extra cash laying around and I get an itch to make a change. Seems lately I've gone thru about 4 putters a year. Sad!! As far as a ball you can go to most of their websites these days, enter your information on the questions they ask you and they will suggest a ball or two for you.....Good Luck!!

If your happy with your clubs and they aren't worn out then I wouldn't but this is the time of year as mentioned below to start watching. And find a place that will fit you properly. It is worth the $ and usually will make a large difference in your game.

As for the best ball. Get out your cash with that swing speed you generally do better with the better balls. I am a fan of Bridgestone 330's but you need to find what works best for you. Many on here use the ProV's But again not matter all of this is what your comfortable with. Get fit PERIOD

Bridgestone works from distance to the green, but really pushes distance an accuracy while Titlest works from green back to fit the ball. I think either way works great. I have kind of combined them as I looked for the ball I liked and seemed to work best for me. But I have 8 acres to hit balls on.

Then just enjoy and tear up the course record

"How can you tell that you should buy new clubs?"

A. If you've never been fit, then that's how you tell. Doesn't mean you're going to get new clubs. You might just need a tweak of the lie angle, weighting, a grip change, or get a shaft tipped.

B. Irons once you are fitted will last you forever. Just keep them clean and re-grip when needed. The only exception is if you got game improvement irons and now have progressed to a single digit handicap.

C. Wedges generally get changed out when you wear down the grooves IF you are at a skill level where you can hit a once bounce and stop chip or back up the ball with a full wedge shot. If you aren't at that level, no need to do anything different than with your irons.

D. Most players would benefit from using hybrids verses long irons. So if you haven't yet made that change, consider looking into some hybrids.

E. Even some of the pros, who all have equipment deals, often have 5-20 year old models of fairway metal in their bags. So if you've got a top performing fairway metal, even if it is 'old' within this range, no need to change unless you game has changed a lot (added a lot more swing speed for example). Even then you may just need to get fitted again and change or tip the shaft.

E. Any of the top performing drivers of the past 5 years are fine. Most of us would say this extends out at least 10 years. More with certain models. Beyond that the same guidelines as fairway woods apply.

F. Top performing putters have been around for decades. Some benefit from alignment aids that have appeared on putters over the last decade. Like irons, you should get fitted for a putter. Once that happens you can use a putter pretty much forever.
