I've been playing a Pro V1 for year or so now. Titleist is a solid company and has been making solid equipment and balls for a long time now. I am quite loyal to Titleist, especially when it comes to the ball I play. I love the overall performance of the Pro V1. It is very consistent, great spin and feel. I don't like the lack of durability in the Pro V1. Sometimes by the end of the front nine it's so torn up I feel like I need a new one. I am looking to try out a new ball and possibly switch. I am looking at the Z-Star of the B-330S. Does anyone have experience with these? Anyone that maybe switched from a Pro V1 to either of these. I plan on trying both our for myself but am curious to hear what others have to say.

I played a Prov V1x today. It did seem to hold up a little better. I'm going to try it out again, but if I don't like a different ball better I think I will switch to the x.

The two balls I play are Titleist HP3 and Nike Power Distance Long. I use both to try and get some extra distance off the tee which I desperately need.

Take the Bridgestone challenge. I used to play with Wilson 50/50 and Zip but Bridgestone e5 goes farther and seemless and more durable. Also, the ball is less than 30 bucks a dozen. It's a Urethane cover.. it's lighter and more durable with good spin without losing anything off tee. My handicap proves it is solid...try it out..

I play the ProV1x for a few reasons and the duribility issue over the V1 is one of them. Keep in mind that if your swing speed is high and youre playing Vokey spin milled groves or Cleveland zip groves or equivilent, youre going to tear the hell out of any playable ball.

That's definitely part of the problem as well. I have CG12's with Zip Grooves.

I've played ProV1x's for a while now and love them, but I don't love the price. So, since this season has started I've been looking at trying other stuff as well. I played the B330 and Penta recently. Of the two, I liked the B330 more but I'm going to keep experimenting until I make a final decision. I still want to try out the Z-Star as well and see what all the hype is about it. The only other ball I've played in the past that could stand up to the ProV1's was the Nike One Black or Platinum.

I play Pro V1, Pro V 1X, and Taylormade TP Red, I find that the Pro V1, in my case, gives me a little more feel and distance, Pro V1X gives me a little more stopping power around the greens. Finally TM TP Red, give me durability and control.

I play the pro v1x all the time but was given a case of bridgestone b330 rx so I have been using them for awile. I think the b330 rx are nice balls and are more durable then the prov1x but they are not as soft and dont spin as much. I think they are both camparably long. If you hit the ball straight and want bite on short game then the pro v1x is the best ball out there IMO.

I don't hit the ball hard enough for there to be much change in how the ball spins for one to another.

The question was what people's experience was with the Z-Star and B-330S. He wasn't looking for what ball everyone plays.

The Z-Star is very comparable to the Pro V1 in my opinion and I've just started playing it myself. It's a hair firmer than the Pro V1. I used to play the B-330S but when Bridgestone changed this ball from a 3 piece to a 4 piece ball in '09 I didn't like the way it felt and I couldn't find consistency, but that's just me, maybe your results may be different.

If you'd like to try either one, check out our website at www.drmulligans.com . We sell mint condition balls (no pen marks, scuffs or discoloration). Most balls have only been hit once and lost. The Z-Star's are $27/dz and the B-330S are $26/dz. Automatic discounted pricing at 5 dozen and more discounts at 8 dozen. Orders over $99 ship for free. References? Check with KWehlen or mojo69 here on Stracka. They are 2 that I know of who have bought from us.

For the skeptical who will follow this post, balls that sit in water for 6 months lose about 6% of their distance. Balls that sit in water for more than about 2 weeks will start to turn tan. Every ball we sell is bright shiny white, no chemical treatment, only washed and graded. So if some of the balls were in water, they weren't in it for very long.

If you don't have the swing speed and/or hit the ball on the sweet spot, All balls will play just about the same,

Taylormade Penta TP is a must if you like the ProV player. I played the B330s for two years and the TP changed my mind.
