So I have a friend who wants to get a handicap and has never had one before but has played quite a few rounds. His question to me was does he post all of his scores (which he has the slope/ratings for) or does he just put scores in after he joins a club? My thought would be to enter every round he has already played even though it would go back several years.
Does anyone know which way is the right way to post and where to find any rulings? Thanks for your input. |

I'd say to just post the last few rounds, it isn't necessary to go back years just a couple of months.

Last 20 rounds would be best.

If he still has the hole-by-hole information, he could post them all for stats. In addition, if he had any tournament scores, those would also be helpful as any T-score is used in the handicap index computation as long as it is no more than a year old. Otherwise, since the handicap index uses only the last 20 scores (except for T-scores), then just post those scores.
