I recently bought a new TM Ghost putter TM-880,which i really like but the white paint is coming off. I emailed Taylormade who said to bring it to an authorized dealer and they would have it replaced. I brought it to the golf shop at my work, where i purchased it from, and the ass. pro said "Yep, happens to all of them." I opted, with his advice, to get it replaced in black. This is really disappointing as i love the white look. So buyer beware if you plan to purchase one of these. I plan to email Taylormade directly to see if they confirm that this does happen regularly.

I have been telling everyone about the white paint coming off ot the drivers and putters since before they came on the market. Finally someone has backed me up with proof. I had a little bit of inside info on the paint cracking and chipping off before they came on the market. I got to test one of the R11 drivers about a week before they were released to the public and the paint chipped on it.

Well, I would like to say that I own 3 white clubs from TM and none of them have chipped paint coming off of them. I own a R11, hybrid and a TM110 putter. I've had all of them since they were first released; they are like brand new. I play a lot as you can see by my scores posted. I think it's a fluke and you should stick with it. Plus is there anything better looking? Performance? or Priced better?

That's because you always hit it "dead nails" in the absolute center of the sweet spot.

I would stick with it also. TaylorMade said they would replace them. The worst thing is you get a new club every so often.

Next year they'll be day-glo yellow ... then hot pink in 2013 ... lime green in 2014 ... maybe brown in 2015 ...

I'm holding out for all blue.

White drivers are not new!! I believe Cobra and one other company tried this concept. They didn't hold up in the '90's and they are not holding up today!!

Actually the white head go back further, atleast the putters do, they were on tour back in the 70's.

But i don't want to keep having to send my putter back so i opted for the black model.

That looks more like bag-chatter than wear and tear

Hard to get "bag-chatter" with the head cover on.

So the latest word from Taylormade is that it is pesticides eating the paint away. Apparently you should thoroughly wipe your putter down after each round. We can paint the spaceshuttle white and the paint doesn't come off reentering the atmosphere!

Some people play 'em, some people shine 'em.

It's just a couple of paint flecks! That dog will still hunt, trust me. Don't worry about what the club looks like and just go play it. The ball don't care how good the club looks.

If i had this putter for a few years or even months i wouldn't be concerned. But to use it for only 3 rounds and have it look like something off the second hand rack is just disappointing. Kind of like buying a new car and have the paint start to peel off. Sure it still drives but looks like crap.

I have five (5) TaylorMade clubs in white, and I haven't had any problems with any of them. I have a R11 driver, 3-wood and 5-wood, as well as the 11 Rescue hybrid. I just bought the ghost putter last week, so I've only played about four rounds with it. I'm pretty good about keeping my clubs clean and keeping head covers on, and all that, but I don't hit it dead center every time. In fact, I hit my 3-wood a lot at the range and occasionally get some sky balls. I think the R11 is much more resistant to sky marks than my old R9 and R7 Steel. I should probably have a couple on there but I don't.

I will definitely keep an eye on my putter and let you know if I notice anything. I play quite often, and a lot of days I play 36, so if it's some flaw in the product that happens to all of them, as your pro said, I would think it would happen to me eventually too.

TaylorMade has a great warranty on their clubs so you might want to just call them and get the address to send it to and they'll probably just send you a new one.
