based on the decrease of participation and the latest craziness regarding point expiration, will anyone ditch the site and not renew their premium paid membership for next year?

I never got the membership. I just use the site for info and getting to talk and meet people around me. I will still use the site because it is really good for finding new people to play with.

I think a response or announcement of some sort is in order by the site. If the email I got regarding points expiring is legitimate then I would think there would be a mass exodus, particularly of those that are active here. there's a lot of people that use this site to keep a handicap and use the points to fund it.

Seems to me that if the email was legit, then it really should have been thought out a little more and with some explanation. To shoot from the hip and say that everything you've done in the past, all the contributions you've made and all the points you were rewarded with over all this time is now being flushed down the toilet is just wrong in my book.

I gotta believe the email was either a hoax or REALLY bad planning/consideration/thought process on whoever gave it final approval.

If all my participation on this site is being kicked to the curb without even a thought I'll go back to my old club.

Sure would be nice to know what the hell is going on by someone who DOES know.

I agree. I got on here mainly for the handicap purposes that can be tracked no matter where you live. I was in the hunt to move so my local club handicap seemed useless to keep. Then the participation went down from some great people I met here. It just isnt that fun anymore on this site. I just renewed my local club handicap membership and dont know if I will do it here.

Reminds me of those commercials with that Customer service guy named "Peggy". And they see how many points people have and then do the gift cards accordingly, knowing that very few people have over 100,000 points.

Way to kick us in the nuts Stracka.

My main purpose for finding this site several years ago was to find a system that could and would keep track of my stats. Not only has Stracka done this but they added a few changes and improvements along the way to make the stats section that much more informative, including but not limited to the year by year stat tracker or career. Gives me a chance to see what I improved on of became worse on. Everything else has just been an added bonus in my opinion. This site owes me nothing. Some members have taken the stance that they will be ditching the site after the 1st of the year, and for what reason, really. You came on here with nothing and you can leave with nothing, its your choice, the site and staff at Stracka owes you nothing. If anything we owe them a Thank you for another great year of forums, games, fantasy leagues and most important the friendships we have made. So Thank you Stracka for a Great 2011 and look forward to see whats in store for 2012~

gj24, I think what you're reading for the most part is frustration over basically "BAM, your points are going away, use 'em or lose 'em". Out of nowhere. I know it's an extreme analogy, but imagine you're walking into work and rumors are floating around that you're fired. Says who? Where'd you hear that? There's really been nothing said about it previous to this and then all the sudden it happens. When all you've gotten are vague details, you don't have a whole lot to run on, so you run on what you know.

So I have to use my Stracka points by the end of the year. I have over 167,000 points, can I use them all or is it just the 27,000 activity points? That's an example of the vague details I'm talking about and shooting from the hip with all of it. Put it all together so people can all make sense of it and make a fair evaluation rather than leaving everyone in limbo.

from what I was lookinat you would save 67.00 dollars at the store. But they have zero, nothing, nadda, that would I could or would buy. Case in point why in the hell would I buy a 100.00 dollar golfsmith gift card for 300. Stracka missed the the mark on that, but you take a look and see if I'm wrong. If I'm wrong I'm a big boy to say I was wrong.

I'm sticking around because of you guys. You're the ones bringing the real value to this site right now. Take a bow.

Your activity points will stay the same. You can use all of your 167,000 Stracka Points to purchase items. Use the email to purchase the gift cards and raffle tickets. I had 21,597 and I used 21,000 on raffle tickets. I now have 597 Stracka points but I still have my 17,597 activity points.

I had over 1.1 million points. Good for 4-$100 Golfsmith gift cards. Which is just a bonus. Like I said though, its all about the friendships I've made and will continue to make in the future & what Stracka offers me, stats, games, fantasy, photos, forums. The points were useless to me and the only reason I had so many because of the putting challenge Jim Stracka laid out there 6-8 months ago. So Thank you for the freebies~

I'm not going anywhere. I used 40,000 points to renew free for next year and spen the rest on giftcards and Raffle tix. Considering that all I was looking for when I found the site was a way to track my handicap and stats I feel like I've gotten a bonus. I have enjoyed the game and the friends I've made here and I hope they don't disappear as the site evolves. I'm staying right here. ..and thanks for everything you've been so far Stracka!
