I will be at Doral playing the Red and the Gold on December 15 & 16.
We will arrive the 14th and leave early the 17th.

The Blue Monster is pricy as I will be spending my cash on a cruise the following week. Is there anything special I should look for while I am there? Any tips from those that have been there?

My wife and I were at Inverrary Resort in Ft Lauderdale three January's ago, and I called to see if I could get a tee time on the Blue. Turned out one was available and we were able to play a round there. Doral is a beautiful place. Just having lunch on the veranda outside the clubhouse overlooking the Blue, with all the international flags flying is a unique experience. I'm sure all the courses are really good. Enjoy the entire experience. Incidentally, we paid $275 ea for the Blue. We paid $325 at Sawgrass the previous year, and I'd take the Monster over Sawgrass.

I too would take the Monster over TPC Sawgrass. I have played them both and the Blue Monster was the better of the two.

I will be in Miami next week for a conference and am sneeking in a round at the Red on Friday. The others had a tournament so could only get on the Red, but have heard they are all nice. The Red is $95.

I went on a cruise several years ago and spent an extra night after our return and we stayed at Doral. Because we stayed at the resort I was able to play for $150.

See if staying there gets you a better deal.

Good suggestion. If anyone wants to join that lives in the area it is only me and I will be staying there so I can save you a buck or two. I will be playing gold the 15th and res the 16th. I wanted to make sure I did not miss some cool "historical" thing. I was going to play the blue monster but with my game, I feel that is a sub 10 handicap reward. What on site restaurant shoul we hit any other thing we should do there. We will be car less

I also agree. Though I have never played the monster, I have played Sawgrass twice and it was twice too much. Wasnt all that. TV makes it out to be more than it really is. Shame though. At least I got to scratch it off the bucket list.
