In preparation for this weekends match, I utilized the download to Excel feature on our club's page to report each members handicap index.
However, when I downloaded the handicap indexes, they were different than the handicap indexes shown on the club page for the members. After a little research I discovered that the club page is displaying the handicap indexes computed at the last revision date, and the Excel download is computing a handicap index up to the most recent score posted. In other words the Excel download is reporting a trend handicap. Consulting the USGA website concerning trend handicaps: "Trend Handicap A ""trend handicap"" is an estimate of a handicap. It may include un-reviewed scores posted since the previous revision. The trend is not a Handicap Index, and its use is not recommended by the USGA." I foresee some spirited discussion this weekend concerning this difference when I assign stroke allowances as some members trend handicap index is 1 stroke higher and some 1 stoke lower than their official handicap index. Can we have the Excel download report the handicap indexes as of the last revision date rather than a trend handicap? |

Good point Dave, we are in the off-season for posting scores, so we did not have a chance to download to Excel, yet.
Please, repor back as how it went. |
