i was just watching Valero and Kevin Na ends up in the woods and can't get out and instead of playing an unplayable he tries getting out and misses then drops where it was a little more open and probably took at least 8 or 9 shots from the woods. he finally holed out at an estimated 13. that was unofficial and they were gonna take a look at it. he eventually cracked a smile while his caddy looked at him like he was crazy. he honestly looked like a weekend hacker just beyond frustrated and kept swinging til he got out. even the commentators mentioned how they had never seen anything like it.

they marked it as a 14 on hole #9 which was a par 4. he went from -1 to a + 9 heading into the back nine because of that one hole. wow

They have him at 15 now. Stay tuned- a committee has been assembled to try to officially determine his score. He'll probably come down with a case of the 24 hour flu and withdraw after the round.

Hopefully they show it on Golf Central. I'm guessing his fellow playing partners enjoyed it since Na is reportedly one of the least favorite players among his peers.

15! Na sets PGA Tour record for worst par-4 hole SAN ANTONIO (AP) â€" Kevin Na will remember the ninth hole at the Texas Open for a long time. The South Korean set a new low Thursday for the worst par-4 hole in the PGA Tour record books, shooting a 15 to plummet to 10-over following a nightmarish sequence of shots. Na’s problems included an unplayable lie from the tee, a two-stroke penalty after the ball ricocheted off a tree and struck him, and five consecutive strokes from the woods. The worst single-hole score belongs to John Daly, who shot an 18 on the par-5 sixth at Bay Hill in 1998. |

Lesson to be learned, everyone!
Rule 28 - Ball Unplayable If the player deems his ball to be unplayable, he must, under penalty of one stroke: a. Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5); or b. Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped; or c. Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole. Na must have either forgotten about option "a," or was perhaps too busy thinking about a way to still par the hole. Sometimes, it's okay to sacrifice and make a bogey or double. |

Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played It seems he only had one chance to go back to the tee: youtube.com/watch?v=aWTXoNzuk8c Is that the rule? You can only go back to the original spot (in Na's case, the tee box) once? |

The whole clubhouse was watching and coming up with their own cenarios of how they would have done it. |

(SIXTEEN!!!) and dude still shot 80. can you imagine shooting 80 with a 16 on your card? |

Na cards 16, PGA Tour record worst for par-4 hole By Associated Press Posted: April 14, 2011 SAN ANTONIO â€" Kevin Na will remember the ninth hole at the Texas Open for a long time. The South Korean set a new low Thursday for the worst par-4 hole in the PGA Tour record books, shooting a 16 with a nightmarish sequence of shots. Na’s problems included an unplayable lie from the tee, a two-stroke penalty after the ball ricocheted off a tree and struck him, and five consecutive strokes from the woods. Na ended the first round thinking he shot a 15 on the hole. But another stroke was added after Na reviewed the video replay before signing his scorecard. He finished the round with an 8-over 80. The worst single-hole score at a PGA Tour event belongs to John Daly, who had an 18 on the par-5 sixth hole at Bay Hill in 1998. Ray Ainsley took 19 shots on the par-4 16th hole at Cherry Hills in the 1938 U.S. Open. |
