The article below prompted a question: Do you let maintenance people finish what they are doing before you hit or even let them know you are about to hit? Scroll down
SANFORD, Florida (AP) A maintenance worker at a central Florida country club has been killed by a golfer's tee shot. Police say the Maintenance man was pulling weeds near a tree at the Mayfair Country Club in Sanford on Wednesday when he was struck in the temple about 30 yards away. The 42-year-old man was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital. Police say he died Thursday after being removed from life support. Police say the shot was an accident and that the golfer will not face charges. |

I absolutely get their attention and hopefully they are being diligent as well. I think too many don't take the possible outcome of getting hit very seriously.

Earlier this year on the 1st hole, someone was in the middle of the fairway fixing a sprinkler head. I waited 5-10 minutes for him to move. But he never did. So a ranger came up and said "Dude go ahead and hit. He'll get up." Luckily the ranger had him move because my ball ended up right next to where he originally was. Nothing more I need to say.

I don't let anything bother me. You can yell in the middle of my backswing, it doesn't matter. Yelling, jumping around cars driving by, water in front of me. Once your focused, nothing bothers me. I play golf with a buddy of mine who lets everything bother him.

If there is any chance of hitting somebody hard, I wait for them to get out the way.
If they're 200-plus yards down the fairway, I wait to see if they see me then let them decide what they want to do: get out the way or take their chances. |

But I have rounds where a cricket can jump four fairways over, and I have to back off. Drives me crazy when things drive me crazy. :) The worst a maintenance dude can do is STOP. If the mower is mowing in the background, that doesn't bother me. But when they stop or power down to let you hit, suddenly it catches my attention, and then it bothers me. Stupid on my part. |

I wait to make contact with the maintenance workers and I'll wait for them to move or give the ok to hit signal.

Except...when everyone is very quiet and not moving around, then suddenly decide to in my backswing, well yes it annoys me. Mowers, maintenance etc. no problem...they have probably seen worse golfers than me :) LOL. |
