I have the same wedges and bought them 3 rounds ago brand new on eBay. 3 for $150 and I love them. Maybe the problem is you've worn out the grooves on them? I played my former wedges for almost 5 years, WAY overdue! I can't find the article but wedges will lose their bite considerably after about 75 rounds. It also depends on the ball you're playing as well.

Perhaps the wedges are not the problem. Have you ever tried buying premium grade used golf balls from www.drmulligans.com ?

Because they don't have Bob Vokey's name on them paying him royalties? Is that why they are all of about $20 less per club? Do tell...

I am a difficult position as well. I was wearing down my custom ground Scratch Wedges which are the best wedges I have ever owned. I switched to Edel and the results just weren't as good. Edel wedges have a rounded sole and for whatever reason I found them very hard to line up.

I just switched back to my Scratch wedges and my good Wedge play returned. Scratch went out of business 2 years ago so I have no idea what I am going to do next.
I think my Scratch wedges are heavier which gives them better feel- I am likely going to have them weighed to make sure. I like the idea of a heavier wedge.

A fellow mid-southerner - finally someone I can relate to. I have friends in Murfreesboro and a standing invitation to stay at Grandma & Grandpa Arnt's house any time so if you have time next time I'm out that way, we should get together - it's a US Handicap thing.

I have the Cleveland 588 RTX 2.0 54* and 58* wedges - bought them last year and replaced the stock shafts. I don't suggest that unless you have good reason - I didn't, I just thought it would be cool. It was, but.. let's move on.

I get a very reasonable amount of spin on full, 3/4, and 1/2 shots. My 1/4 shots can also spin if I'm on my game for the day.

I attribute that to a couple of things and my "coach" played 4 holes with me yesterday after we shot his promo video and he confirmed it:

1.) Good ball. I'm currently playing a Callaway Chromesoft X and Chromesoft, but I've played the Bridgestone line of premiums - B330S and B330-RXS will spin a lot more, but I can still get spin out of the non (S) balls. It goes without saying, but Pro V1 and V1X are good spinning balls, but they are high priced and I like the Bridgestone and Callaway offerings better (and you can get them from www.drmulligans.com)

2.) New-ish wedges. Even my 3 year old wedges had good spin, but these are ~6 months old I think

3.) Forward shaft lean at impact. I can't see this, but my coach assures me that is what is happening. I got a hop and stop on a 25yd pitch shot with him watching. He liked it.

4.) Abbreviated backswing with a rapid acceleration through impact. I've been intentionally keeping my backswing short with a rapid acceleration. It takes a bit of time to know what distance I get out of 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 swings with each wedge, but it's worth it.

I'm no expert and I may be very wrong on most things, but this is what I think is helping me get plenty of hop and stop or drop and spin back on my shots. I'm playing mini-verde bermuda greens most of the time - they are receptive, but fairly dry this week and VERY fast.

I don't think there are any issues with Cleveland Wedges. For that matter I would also argue that (for the most part) a Wedge is a Wedge. There isn't a ton of tech in your wedges...loft and grooves.

The shaft could play a part. I tend to like Spinner shafts, but many people like having the same shafts that they have in their irons.
