I've been making some minor changes ever since my fitting for irons a few months ago. I come over the top / outside to inside and tend to leave my club face open inducing a strong fade. The change I made myself was more of a flat swing. I start the club flatter around my body vs bringing the driver head up and around. This seems to help me get my club face more square at impact and helps me rotate my hands. I've noticed more fairways and more distance.

I'm starting to get some help from a PGA Pro that I know and trust who utilizes TrackMan (that is not a guaranteed qualifier, but you do have to know what you're doing to use one). He's started me on a spine tilt with my left shoulder slightly higher at address than my right shoulder. This all feels weird to me, but google and several good swing coaches seem to agree with him.

I'm going for it and working it out in the Egor Backyard Driving Range (net) so we'll see if it makes any difference. My swing speed on what I'd call a bad day on the range was 98mph which seems to match the distances I've been getting recently.

Do you tilt? Do you know? Ever had a lesson where they started you out like that - did it work?

I'm not crowd sourcing my opinion - I'm going for what he tells me - but what do you do?

I like everything your pro is telling you. the tilt is good with a driver. not good with any other club. It helps you lift the ball off the tee. You want to hit slightly down on everything else. the tilt has helped me reduce spin on my drives, which has increased carry and roll out after the ball lands.

Yes you tilt. A tad more with a driver. It also adds power and helps you hit the ball from the inside.

If you really think about it the tilt is necessary because your right hand is under your left. That alone should give you some tilt..

Just like everything in life...don't overdo it.

V1 swing software - watch your swing and compare it to a pros.

Spine tilt is only effective with Driver. You need the sweeping motion to hit up on the drive. It's the direct opposite with every club left in the bag. He's got you on track but make sure to hit the rest of the clubs effectively, you put 2 tees into the grind next to the ball. When you hit, your divot should be in front of where the ball was. No spine tilt on those.

Thanks for confirmation gents. I was listening intently and trying to understand with the full intention of following his lead. This just confirms everything he was saying. I just gotta get used to a 'tilt'.

Try a lateral bump to start your downswing, coupled with keeping your head still and behind the ball, will give you all the tilt you need.
