Was looking for somewhere to play with the usual suspects this Saturday and found a more or less open tee sheet on GolfNow at Hopewell Valley. As far as I know it's always been a private course. Looks like they are either looking to snag some new members or go full "Woodcrest" in the near future. Old school 1927 layout, never played here before obviously. Looks like an interesting golf course, started reading the 'bio' and hole descriptions. Any input would be welcome if you've played this one before!

Have fun! Hopefully they take care of the course a lot better than they do their website. Holes 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15 and 17 all have the same photo. If you got bored playing those 10 holes you can play 4&6 which are different but the same.

When you get there tell them Mongo says "it not rocket science".

Yeah, I noticed the photos. I'll work my way through the text anyway. Tried out the Bluegolf site Brian recommended, that looks pretty useful!

Fun to play layout! Greens were slow but rolled very well, real sand in the bunkers, fairways in good condition. The rough was thick and juicy! Pretty wide open, no really scary shots everything is right there in front of you. The par 3 17th being the only exception, uphill 195 yard from the White tee, yikes! Would be fantastic walkers course but for a cart bridge from the 8th tee box to the fairway being out of action. Long detour needed around past the 16th tee and fairway to get back on track. Just enough elevation change to make it a challenge, I could feel the lower body start to fade around 15 but was pleased to hit a the fairway on 18 with a solid drive.

Had the place more or less all to ourselves, saw a few other groups out here and there and had a couple of groups playing jump-a-hole (members?). Late afternoon tee time on GolfNow was $55, well worth both the price and the drive!
