really.. did J.B. Holmes really take two drops and place the ball, with no penalty? Should he should have just conceded the hole once he hit it over there?

Thoughts?

His new plumb-bobbing routine on the greens makes me flip the channel when he's on. I don't think he's doing anything substantive, rather it's just a psychological ploy: "I've already got my line and know exactly where I'm going to putt it, but now I'm just gonna do a bunch of garbage for a few mintues to irritate my opponent."

How does he play to pace? It takes 5-10 mins for him to take a shot.

You talking about his 3rd shot on 18? If you are, I was wondering the same thing.

not that i agree with the rule but he followed the rules of golf. His first drop was allowed because the ball was next to a small drip sprinkler head. Once he properly dropped the ball was in play. The problem? His ball was next to another sprinkler head so he gets a free drop irregardless of how he got there (by the first free drop). On the second drop, the ball was rolling beyond a club length (i think that was the ruling) so by rule he is able to place the ball where it hit the ground.

i know its our job to know the rules but a little explaination wile a player is going threw it on the course and why would give us a great example sometimes.. something i wish would happen more in the TV coverage. i find it interesting.

I agree. Some golf commentators are good at explaining the rules. Seem like too many times they only commentate on the rules when its something controversial. The day to day drops, etc. would be very good for the golfing audience.
