After reading and posting to several blogs and forums on which golf balls players use or prefer, I thought of a question I had never considered. I used to lose alot of golf balls, as is the case with all new golfers, but now I rarely lose a ball - maybe once out of 3 or 4 rounds.
Here's my question - If I play with a new golf ball and don't cut it or scuff it badly, other than comestic looks, how long should that ball "last"? Is there a "uselful life" or "shelf life" for a golf ball?

7/4/2010 9:37:46 PM I would tend to agree with the others. I imagine that the shelf life of your golf ball is considerably longer than the shelf life of your CD/DVD collection (yes, they have a shelf life). A google search provided this link: http://www.golfdigest.com/golf.. This article does not mention the "shelf life" of the golf ball, more the "playing life" of one. |

7/23/2009 11:55:53 AM A long time. I still play with the old Cleveland wedges and I can use a ball (ProV1x) for 3 or 4 rounds and not notice any differences in performance. Now with the new "zip grooves" or Vokey wedges, 6 or 7 full wedge shots and that ball is unuesable. So play it till you lose it!! or 7 full wedge shots and that ball is unuesable. So play it till you lose it!! |
