Wow - what a bad round I played today. One par 4 I hit OB, re-tee - hit middle of the fairway, but ended up in a ditch in the fairway, chipped out, pulled 8 iron into a lateral haz, drop, again in a lat haz, drop, lat haz, drop, lat haz, drop, hit short of green, chip on, miss from 6 ft, tap in for a 15.
OUCH!

7/13/2010 9:48:39 AM As a follow-up - there was no one behind us, and it was an 8 iron - no way I should pull that so far left. I just wanted to hit 1 good shot before giving up. As to the maximum strokes - there is ESC (Equitable Stroke Control) that applies to your score for handicap calculation only. If you are playing for money (stroke play) you can't concede a hole and there is no Maximum (unless you agree ahead of time to limit strokes to X to save time). In Match play or Skins - you can concede any hole you want. I do play in a league where they cap at 7 on par 3, 8 on par 4, and 10 on par 5's, but that is not in the rules of golf. My dad typically caps at double par. |

8/29/2009 2:04:27 PM I thought that you could only go triple the par score? |

7/25/2009 8:53:25 PM Nope but on my way to my best round ever I shot a 12...went ob off the tee, three times, then duffed one short and on my fourth shot, went ob again. Played out the last shot as if if didnt go out of bounds, it was only out a foot or two and counted it for 12, Learned a valuable lesson on that hole, Playing a 3 wood instead of driver is sometimes not enough. I hit a 5 iron off that tee now.bounds, it was only out a foot or two and counted it for 12, Learned a valuable lesson on that hole, Playing a 3 wood instead of driver is sometimes not enough. 7/25/2009 7:52:35 AM I'm going to be kind and assume no one else was on the golf course and that this was a tournament requirinig every shot to be accounted for. For the sake of all please pick up after double par! |

7/24/2009 4:29:17 PM I remember that Golf Digest held a competition for America's worst avid golfer. The course was TPC Sawgrass. A player carded a 63 on hole #17 (the one with the island green). Yep 63 just on one hole! And his final score was 257 :) http://sports.espn.go.com/golf..' target='_new' rel='nofollow'>http://sports.espn.go.com/golf.. To this guy, 15 on one hole would be a really good score :)And his final score was 257 :) http://sports.espn.go.com/golf..' target='_new' rel='nofollow'>http://sports.espn.go.com/golf.. 7/24/2009 9:56:50 AM I don't remember every having a 15, but I did have a 4 putt for a bogey though, that was frustrating. |

7/24/2009 9:41:33 AM The first time I ever played as a kid, I probably shot a 15 at one point. Every shot was this 50 yard worm-burner slice that never got more than a couple of inches off the ground. I just worked my way down the hole, on in 8, and 5-putted everything. I'm sure there was a 15 in there somewhere. The worst in recent memory was a 10 on a par-5, largely due to course management with 3 penalty shots and a tin-cup style go-for-it shot that I kept playing despite my better judgment. I think I 3-jacked when I finally got on.ay down the hole, on in 8, and 5-putted everything. I'm sure there was a 15 in there somewhere. 7/22/2009 2:39:49 PM I had a 14 on one hole in a tournament last fall. I got so steamed with myself for it and ended up using crude language and tossed some clubs. I could have been thrown off the team for those incidents but I ended up calling it quits for the season before any action could be taken against me by the governing conference because of a twisted ankle.ts but I ended up calling it quits for the season before any action could be taken against me by the governing conference because of a twisted ankle. |

7/22/2009 10:38:08 AM Isn't it true that certain handicaps can only take a maximum number of strokes? |

7/20/2009 7:45:38 PM I recall an 11 on a par 5, hit a nice tee shot in the fairway but kept topping every shot with my 3 wood until I finally made it on the green after 8 shots, and 3 putted for 11. |
