Are there any books or videos out there that help people understand the importance of course management? What are the big things to keep in mind when playing a round of golf? Are the yardage books really that important, does the GPS show you any advantages beside yardage? Besides having an expert or caddie tag along during your round. Are they ways to find out important facts or information about the course or holes?

A stand of trees is on the right of the fairway between you and the green. If you can't hit over the trees then you hit to the left. A creek is a 150 yards in front of the you. If you can't hit over the creek--lay up. That is course management in a nut shell. Big thing--know how far you hit each club and play smart. GPS---depends on the GPS.u and the green.
