I hit a low draw most of the time. I have the nicknane of sodbuster when I play because of my divot. But lately I have been hitting the ball thin like I'm picking every shot and when I do try to fix it I hit the ball fat. I would like to hear you sound off.

6/2/2010 9:12:55 AM fat and thin shots are made up of the same fault. the problem is that your point of impact is inconsistent (usually due to the weight hanging back), so you make subconscious fixes. usually, the fix is the left arm (for right handed golfers) will break down at impact (chicken wing). if that happens too soon, you hit it thin, too late and it's a fatty. try hitting 1/2 shots and keep your arms straight through impact with a little shaft lean forward. get the weight forward! |

7/10/2009 10:33:51 AM Hey Davy, are you still having this issue? When I catch if fat or thin, it's usually because I'm sliding, not turning thorugh the ball. |

4/17/2009 2:59:04 PM Be sure your ball position and target line is consistent, if the ball moves back or forward less than 1/2 a ball width it can completely change your impact. Also be sure your right hand is not taking over too much on the down swing. When your right hand tightens up and tries to put too much pain on the ball it will alter your swing arc. It may be that with your flat swing, which causes that low draw, you can hit hard with your right hand most of the time but when it gets too strong or when you ease off some to try to steer the ball it can throw off the strike, make sure you are turning smooth back and through. Number one cause of hitting fat or thin when you are young is swinging too hard, when you get old it will be from getting tired after playing 18 holes. over too much on the down swing.
