Just curious what all of you think about how long a round of golf should be, what is too long and what is ideal. I personally think 4- 4.5 hours is perfect, but I sure like to play the 3 to 3.5 hour round also. Anything over 4.5 hours is too long for me. I've played a few 6 hour rounds, weekends here at my local course....which is why I dont play the weekend here anymore.

3/18/2009 4:46:08 PM I had to ride with one of those a few weeks ago. Par 5,he's sitting 5 off the green, skulls 6 into the water, 7 out, 8 back across the green, 3 putts. "Give me a 7." It was like that old TGW commercial. Now I know how he does it when he said "I usually shoot in the 80s."ial. Now I know how he does it when he said "I usually shoot in the 80s." |

3/18/2009 4:39:36 PM Is he the one that tells you every thing about his shot? Why it worked, why it didn't, what he was thinking, etc? And that he's never played as bad as he's playing today? |

3/18/2009 4:07:50 PM There is absolutely nothing fun about a 5.5 hour round if its with Mr. Talks about Anything and Everything Non Stop for the entire round. I'm exhausted just from having to listen to him. |

3/17/2009 8:27:05 PM I like to have the 4 to 4.5 hour and .5 to 1 at the driving range (Before and after). That puts it about 6 or so hours total...that is about all that my wife will allow me for golf before she breaks out the honey - do list.out the honey - do list. |

3/15/2009 7:52:44 PM Played Saturday, 4 1/2 hours. Front nine took forever. We're at a par 3, someone on the green, a group on the tee, plus a 2-some ahead of us. The ranger comes up from behind and tells us to speed up. All we could do was bust out laughing.. All we could do was bust out laughing. |

3/6/2009 8:26:43 AM Great topic.....If it takes any longer then 4:15 to play, something is wrong. We public golf course players struggle with this all the time. I have altered my playing schedule to either early morning or later afternoon. This seems to help immensely with the time frame of 4:15....I played a round once and it took 8 freakin hours, total nightmare! or later afternoon. 3/5/2009 5:46:49 PM I hate playing outings because of the amount of time it takes. 5 hours for a foursome is about all I can stand on a regular basis. I've played an outing where we were on the course 7 hours and you cannot expect to concentrate and play well over that amount of time in my opinion. I got a round in this morning by myself in about 2 1/2 hours but had to wait for a couple groups to let me through.not expect to concentrate and play well over that amount of time in my opinion.
