I was just in Panama City, FL at The Hombre GC, where I did the scoreboard for the second stage of QSchool. This is a place where you can see every golf emotion you can imagine. These guys are playing for a place to play next year. For the majority of them, if they do not advance they don't have any status on an elite tour. Therefore they have to Pay To Play(hooters tour, gateway tour, etc.) There were past Tour winners, and Nationwide winners, all trying to make it to the finals. The golf we see on TV is the glamour side of the business. When you can get an upclose look at the players trying to get there for the first time, or the player trying to get back there again, it is a unique experience. This is probably my 7th year in a row to do this scoreboard and it amazes me every year. I leave feeling happy for a few guys, and sad for a lot of guys. Especially when you know some of them personally.

 

The low 20 and ties advanced out of the Hombre to the finals. The number was 4 under par. It looked like it was going to be 5 under for a long time, until a couple of guys stumbled on the final day to let the 4 unders in. If you ever have the chance to see a second stage, you should defenitely go. You will see great golf and see just how tough it is to play this game for a living.
