11/4/2008 9:52:22 PM Okay...Just a follow up. I hit some clubs tonight and I've decided on the Mizuno Sora's with the Winn Grips. Can't wait to play with them! Should be fun! Thanks everyone! |

11/2/2008 4:09:13 PM Thanks for all of the tips...I stole my husbands Ping G5 driver and G5 3 wood today...LOL! HUGE difference in my game! It was awesome playing with some quality clubs. I had to choke up quite a bit because I play with petites (I'm 5'1" and he's 6'1") so they weren't perfect, but it was really good. I'd still like to try some other brands, but now I can understand why he wanted those clubs so bad! They really do make a difference. Thanks again to everyone! |

11/2/2008 9:38:11 AM I recently got a set of TaylorMade r7 TP irons and they are very good. I turned down a set of Callaway X20's with Rifle shafts for these. I felt more comfortable hitting the r7's. That's the key. You've gotta be able to hit and feel confident when you hit them. The X20's were probably the better club, but for me the r7's are perfect. A fitting is good, but if your swing changes (improves) you might need some adjustments. My advice is to hit as many as you can until you find the right feel. |

11/1/2008 11:20:23 PM Go to a PGA superstore or any golf outlet and try all the clubs. I played taylor made for years but went to cleveland Hibores because all the clubs gives me more control. The best bet is to try several and get fitted. Oh yea take some lessons,I did and it helped and I'm giving my wife lessons for Christmas. Good luck. |

11/1/2008 9:51:04 PM I agree with bradley about getting your clubs to fit you...you could have the "best" clubs but if they don't fit chances are you won't hit them well, whatever brand they are...I suggest swinging as many clubs as you can drivers, irons, woods, hybrids, and putters...my bag doesn't match completely although most of it is Nike...Find the clubs that YOU are most comfortable with and that strengthen your weaknesses...An example, I have the Nike SQ 5000 driver and got it stock...even though i could crush the ball i was also consistently slicing...I had it regripped to fit my large hands and its a world of distance...the club doesn't twist in my hands anymore which was causing my slice...It's small things like that that can change how you swing and make contact...So swing em all!!!! you will know which one to pick, good luck!!! |

11/1/2008 2:04:14 PM I started golf with a Callaway GES set, which gave me a lot of confidence. It's a half set (7 clubs: 1 putter, 3 irons and 3 woods), especially designed for women who are starting the game. The clubs are easy to hit (the irons have a very wide sole). It would definitely recommend that you try it out (Callway discontinued it, so you'd have to buy a used set) or that you try the GEM, which is the new version: http://www.callawaygolf.com/Gl.. One thing for sure: go to your local golf store and try different models to see which one you're most comfortable with. I know I've been a Callaway girl from the very beginning and always will be :) |

11/1/2008 12:07:45 PM the reason i would chose Ping irons for you is there method of fitting you. The whole line are great clubs but you can walk into the Ping dealer and they can grab you by the hand , measure your swing speed and figure out your lengths and so forth.. you will walk out of the place with a sweet set of irons that are tour quality with a long track record of being played by the best golfers.. and somehting you can play for the next 10 years without feeling the need to upgrade. take your husband im sure he would love to come along. but it is a way to get set up that is for the most part foolproof and has been proven to work over and over again so dont be afraid to go it alone either.. again for your woods you can match your set with Ping or i personaly love Taylor but Brand is personal.. swing them and try them.. check the used rack there are clubs that you cant even tell were hit and save you a ton of cash.. and grab a 56 degree wedge for your shortgame.. just wanted to let you know why i Picked Ping for you ...though i do not play them myself.. have fun! |
