Winter is quickly approaching for many of you, and I would suggest that this is the best time to develope your golf swing motion. Let me explain. During the winter you can't be outside and play golf or go to a driving range, unless it is indoors. But you can stay indoors and do drills to develope a correct motion. The only way to learn a correct motion, a golf swing, is through correct repetitions. By repeating a motion correctly, over time, it  will turn into a habit. And that is what our golf swing motion is, a habit. You can't change a habit, you must develope a new habit, and make it stronger than the old habit.

Wow, that was a long sting of events. Let me explain it another way, and from a different angle. If you go take a lesson and your instructor tells you that you need to make a better back swing pivot. You then proceed to get a large bucket of ball, let's say 100 balls. Out of those hundred balls, how many of them will you make a correct back swing pivot? 15, 20, 25? If you do say 20 correctly, you then did 80 incorrectly, Right? Which one did you learn more, the correct swing, or the incorrect swing? The incorrect swing. This is why it is so difficult to learn a good golf swing. The numbers are not in our favor, unless we practice differently.

Now, let's say your instructor gives you a drill to do at home in front of a mirror. And let's say you stand in the mirror and watch yourself perform 100 of these pivot drills. How many will you do correctly? The answer will be 100, because you won't let yourself do it wrong if you are watching yourself. Now you have made your practice session very productive and a great learning environment.

So I will now go back to my original thought. Develope your swing motion over the winter, indoors, doing drills in a efficient learning environment. You will be amazed at how good your swing looks in the spring. Then you just need to learn to hit the ball solid with your new motion. I have put a back swing tip on my website with a video of a good back swing pivot drill. Let me know what you think. Click on the following link to view.
