Event Information
The Westheimer Area #042 golf club is hosting a stroke play tournament that is open to anyone in the Greater Houston Area. The purpose of the event is to enable all participants to compete in a USGA handicap event. A donation of 10% of net proceeds will be donated to The First Tee and American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast non-profit organizations.
Qualifications
Anyone with a USGA handicap index or seeking an official round to qualify for an official handicap index.
If a player does not currently have handicap index, then there is a requirement to provide the name of the last five golf courses played, gross score, and slope & course rating or name & color of tee boxes used during the round. Then a local handicap index will be assigned.
The USGA handicap revision date of February 15, 2016 will be used for determining the course handicap.
It is recommended that the participant print out their handicap card and present to the organizer after the revision date prior to the event for verification purposes.

Upon completion of the round, the scorer will sign the card and return to the player who will attest their own score card. Once the score card has been signed and attested, then it shall be turned into the tournament organizer or official. The scores will then be entered into the tournament site to determine the final ranking.
Rules
The USGA Rules of Golf will apply throughout the tournament and all members are expected to have a good understanding of the rules. If a player is in doubt of a ruling, then the player is advised to keep two scores and bring the situation to the attention of a tournament official and a final ruling will be determined prior to submitting the final score.

2/26/2016 7:18:12 PM The tournament will take place as scheduled tomorrow on Saturday, 27-Feb. We have 13 players out of an original 16 player commitment. We could use more players from the Westheimer Area #042 golf club. Out of the 13, 4 are with the golf club the remaining 9 are guest. |

12/23/2015 7:17:34 AM The tournament registration is currently full with a total of 16 players. This should be a good event and I am pleased with the early interest from the participants this early from the competition. There are o Westheimer Area #042 members and one member from the Houston Area #950 golf club in the group. This once again underscores the fact that there area is a large community of virtual players on this site that are not interested in participating as a golf club. We could use more active participation in these types of events to remain compliant with the USGA Handicap System, and this is not limited to my own golf club. |

12/13/2015 9:03:03 AM It is interesting that we have had 92 views and not one viewer has indicated any interest in playing in a competitive event. Then why does everyone want to keep a handicap? |
