The 31st Annual World Amateur Handicap Championship will be held on August 25 - 29, 2014 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.. If you are interested in participating in the tournament or want to just check out what it is all about, then go to http://www.worldamgolf.com/ and you will find all of the information you need.

I attend the 30th annual event in 2013 and had a great time. If you have not participated before, it is like a tour event only a little tougher. The reason is that each participant plays 4 rounds of fabulous Myrtle Beach golf on a different course each day. This makes the event challenging and exciting at the same time since you never see the same course twice. I am a high handicapper and despite this fact, it was fun to compete with my peers in the same handicap bracket and general age group.

Each night after the days round of golf, there is a 19th hole event at the convention center. This is a great place to checkout some great food and spirits and to chat with other golfers about your adventure for the day. There are people there from around the country and the world. I had the privilege to play my second round last year with a friendly chap from New Zealand. Everyone at the event are friendly and out to have a good time.

I realize that not everyone can get away for a week to go play golf, but if you want to have a great golf vacation, there is no better way to do it. I would encourage everyone that can to check it out and try to attend. I will be there again this year and look forward to meeting anyone from the Houston area that might be planning to attend. Post a comment if you are planning to participate in the event.
