It has been …
weeks
months
years
… since Tiger Woods last won a major. Already the whispers have started:
“Has he clinched his crown as the greatest golfer ever?”
“Is he in a slump?”
“Has the sport passed him by for good?”
Yet as …
good
bad
… as he has been, you can’t discount the presence of …
Phil Mickelson.
golf’s young guns.
doubts about his character.
Gone are the days when …
Tiger intimidated the competition.
Tiger was tinkering with his swing.
Tiger’s personal reputation was unsullied.
But one fact remains:
golf needs a dominant Tiger Woods.
golf needs someone to challenge Tiger Woods.
Tiger is still not the man we hoped he was and the man we still want him to become.
In press conferences he is…
more open and revealing than before.
still very guarded and almost condescending.
not willing to talk about his personal life.
And it is still very obvious that he needs to work on his …
putting.
accuracy with the driver.
foul language on the course.
But make no mistake, we are seeing very real signs of a …
resurgence.
a once dominant athlete fading into the pack.
herpes sore.
And for one, I couldn’t be more …
happy.
hopeful.
disgusted.

4/13/2011 7:43:39 AM I agree with gj24. I never watch the news anymore due to the fact it is all negative news 99% of the time. No wonder people are so down and pissed off all the time. Imagine if the news only reported good news for 1 week. I honestly wonder how peoples views and attitudes would change towards one another? |

4/12/2011 7:46:40 PM Kinda like Dale Jr now isn't it. He's the biggest draw in NASCAR even though he hasn't won a race in 2 years. The media and fans are eager to build someone up so huge, they are Rock-Stars. Then the second they are in the headlines for something negative, its the same people to tear them down and keep on kicking them when they are down. 14 majors has something to do with it along with his other wins, his constant publicity along with his Nike endorsements, commercials, video games, clothing line, you name it next. How quick we are to tear someone apart...lets dig up our skeletons and see how we feel. Lets put the media in the same position that they put him in. People thrive on negativity and drama and that is so sad~ |

4/12/2011 6:23:10 PM When it comes to Tiger Woods anything can get blown up negatively or positively because the guy is just that interesting. I don't believe in the "he made his own bed" comment because the media is always looking to rub people any way the can to get a story. This past Sunday showed just how relevant he was and still is. I don't think anyone was as excited about any of the other players as Tiger because he hits these shots that just makes you want to cheer for him or in my case to play some golf! Say what you will about him, golf owes him, golf needs him and during Sunday at Augusta, golf was him. |

4/12/2011 11:55:40 AM Funny. Sad but very true I am affriad to say. I write a lot for Bleacher Report and CBS Sports on a variety of sports and all I see on their golf pages is Woods this and Woods that. All saying the same thing just using different words. There are so many other golfers and stories to write about. I am not sure why every sports writer has to write about Woods 24/7. |

4/12/2011 6:18:19 AM this is a great take on the state of tiger "reporting". The unwashed masses will read anything about him....kinda like the Princess Di madness in its day. |
