There is probably no good reason not to retrieve a ball that just went into the edge of a water hazard and you can see it plain as day. Right?... Well, until today, maybe...
My tee shot on #10 Plantation, went through the fairway and rolled into the water hazard by about a foot. No problem I says to myself as I get out my trusty ball retriever and fish it out. Dropping two, hitting three. As I collapse the retriver to put it back into the bag, I managed to catch the fingerprint portion of my ring finger square into one of those joints. Ooohh that's gonna hurt.... By the time I fnished the back 9, the fingertip had swollen up about half again as large as it should be. Doesn't hurt to much...yet....but really tight skin, so I know it aint gonna be funny in a day or two.
So laying off the clubs for several days, ...didn't need that da.n.ball that much anyway...<sigh>...

4/7/2011 10:13:48 PM I've only played 1 "water shot" and it came on ice. Last year on the 3rd hole at Littleton Golf Course my ball went a foot into the water hazard, which had been frozen over by ice at this point. Took out a 7 iron and scratched it up to hit a really solid shot. Fingers were sore at first but it didn't last long. Club took most of the beating though. |
