For a long time now the "Big Bully" on the Ocean City, Maryland golf scene has been the Ruark Group. They have several very premium courses, including Lighthouse Sound and Rum Pointe which they offer as package deals to the visiting golfer. I recently discovered that three other local courses have teamed up to offer some needed competition.
I booked a weekday golf only package for early April for less than the price of 1 round at Lighthouse Sound in the Summer. I have lodgeing available in the area so I don't need the hotel package. One of the courses, Eagle's Landing, is an old friend. I play here almost every time I'm in OCM. The others I've either never played or it's been so long I have no useful memory of the layout.
Baywood Greens is North of OCM in Delaware. It's a fairly new layout, I've driven past it before and it looks spectacular. I'm really looking forward to finding out if it's as special from the inside as it looks from the outside. Ocean City Golf Club offers two 18 hole courses, Newport Bay and Seaside. I'm pretty sure I played the Seaside once a long time ago.
Before I play a course I don't know very well I use Google Earth to check it out ahead of time. I like to have an idea in my head as to club selection, hidden hazards, green size, etc.. I then print out my own yardage sheets to bring with me. Below are links to my overhead views of the courses and links to the course websites. If you are considering playing in Ocean City this year you might find some of this information useful.
