I took January off. I intended to start working on my game on 2/1, but it's suppose to be freezing rain. Looks like I won't be able to get outside to practice until Saturday. I will probably go somewhere that I can hit some shot inside jsut so I can swing the club and get loose.
My plan is to work on my 3w tee shot. I don't want to depend on hitting my driver perfect as much the year.
Then I want to dial in my distances with my irons. In 2010 I was never comfortable with my distances. So I couldn't trust my swing when I got over the ball.
I will continue to finish each practice session with short game work. That has always been the one part of my game that I can depend on.

6/29/2011 12:05:32 AM 3W is a great way to go. I play the 390, 400 yard par 4's with a 3W all the time. I have even done it for 440, but that was a certain course and I knew It would play 10 yards less on the 2nd shot. I really like 3W off the tee. Most 350 - 420 Par 4's don't be surprised to see me take a 3W out. If I play a 350 with it I have 100 ( /-10) yards left. 420 I have 170( /-10) yards left. I then just look at the green, find the slope, use it and hit what is needed. |

2/9/2011 8:28:31 AM I hit 7 iron and Driver yesterday inside at a golf store. First time I swung a club since 12/31/11. It started off very inconsistently. After my body got loose, I started hitting it better. Not where I want to be. The snow and ice is back today. I am playing Saturday. This could be interesting. |

2/4/2011 7:50:53 AM Snow and ice are keeping me from practice. But I am working on my putting inside. I am getting real good at putts inside 6 feet. The roads have been to bad to go somewhere to hit inside. |

2/1/2011 1:39:39 PM There are 2 things I need to work on this year. Driving and approach shots. I only hit 53% of fairways last year and only hit the ball around 200 yards with my driver. So picking up 30 yards and getting my FIR's to like 75% are a must. And I do not find anywhere enough GIR's. Only 12% for me last year. Most of that is because I misclubbed, took too aggressive of a line, or hit some chunk or shank. If I can get my GIR's to 40% and fix my driving, I'll get my big goal for 2011 which is to break 80. |

2/1/2011 1:34:30 PM A game plan is very important--its good to have a game plan especially when needing to work on things at the range~and then transfer that to the course~ |
