IRVING, Texas—If the Guinness Book of World Records says so, then Richard Lewis is something more than just a guy who likes to tee it up.

The a 64- year old member at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, which hosts the annual PGA TOUR’s  HP Byron Nelson Championship, owns the title “World’s Most Avid Golfer.”
Committing this year to break the Guinness Book of World Records for playing and walking the most rounds of golf in a calendar year, Lewis is set to break the record at 11 a.m. EST Dec. 26 in what will be his 600th round. He’ll mark the occasion by playing the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas.

Lewis has played every round on either this course or Four Seasons private members’ course, Cottonwood Valley. The current world record is 586, which Lewis broke when he played round 587 on Dec. 19.

His plans for the 600th round call for visits by a few loyal friends and family members who have also endured and supported this feat of athleticism and determination. Several supporters have paid more than $5,000 to play with him in this record 600th round on the 6.15-mile TPC Four Seasons layout. Money raised will be donated in Lewis’ honor to support The First Tee of Dallas

Lewis says he is an introvert by nature, but he did share a few interesting facts.

He estimates he has walked around 3,900 miles during the quest and taken more than 7 million steps
He has played as many as 54 holes in a day
He begins his daily round at 7:30 a.m., and begins his second round three hours later
He has lost 40 pounds and now checks in at 141 pounds
He missed playing on 19 days—all because of sleet or below-freezing temperatures
He makes himself eat at least one pizza a day and drinks plenty of protein drinks a week
just to keep weight on
He played in cold rain with Four Seasons’ five PGA Class A professionals on Nov. 3 just to keep on track
He has used the same bag for more than 1,000 rounds
He believes the support of his local golf club helped make the feat possible, citing encouragement by the staff, the members, two golf courses to work with and great weather for most of the year
