I first encountered Cleveland Golf’s Launcher DST series at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show. I hit the Cleveland Launcher DST driver at the indoor range and loved the feel and distance the club produced.
I requested the driver and the fairway wood for a golf club review and my first impression of the Cleveland Launcher DST fairway wood was kind of luke warm. After logging a few rounds with it, however, I can say without a doubt that the entire Launcher DST series is a success.
FROM THE COMPANY:
OVERSIZE FACE DESIGN
- Large face provides additional toe and heel hitting area
- Provides forgiveness on off-center hits for consistent results even on poor swings
ULTRALITE DIAMANA RED 64 SHAFT
- Improves launch angle to maintain downrange hangtime
- Enhanced carry distance
HIGH LOFTED 3 WOOD OFFERING
- Along with strong 13º and standard 15º options, a high lofted 17º option is available.
- Players with low launch conditions or slower swing speeds will improve distance. Larger 3 wood chassis rather than a4 wood makes it more forgiving and longer.
The fairway wood follows the “lighter, longer, faster” methodology of the Cleveland Launcher DST Driver.
The club has a tasteful traditional look at address and the bottom of the club has a sleek design that one can be proud of. It's the mullet of golf clubs, traditional on top, party on the bottom!
The oversized club face and larger sweet spot makes the club easier to hit. I’ve been playing with the 15 degree Cleveland Launcher DST fairway wood and I’ve gained 25 yards with the club.
In a nutshell, this club is awesome and you need to put it in your bag. I originally received the club as a media demo but I liked it so much that I ended up buying it.
The Cleveland Launcher DST Fairway wood has an MSRP of $180 and is also available in 19 and 22 degree lofts.
