On my way to shooting a 108 yesterday I did it! For the FIRST TIME EVER I snapped. Not once but twice in the same round. On one aweful DUCK HOOK (If it would not of hit a tree it would of hit me in the back of the head) I snapped the shaft to my driver over my leg, and then to top it off on another terrible drive I snapped my 5-wood over my leg. LIKE I SAID THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER, I got on my bro-inlaw's butt last year for doing the same thing and now I have done it. I have been talking about getting a new set of fairway woods and a new driver anyhow, so this just gives me more of a reason. Although its gonna hit me deep into my wallet, it did in fact make me feel better! TO ANY PATRONS THAT MAY OF WITNESSED THIS DIBACLE I APOLOGIZE! I'm wondering AM I THE ONLY JACK-ASS TO HAVE EVER "LOST IT" ON THE COURSE or is there a secret underground club full of them? Maybe we can meet to meditate or something once a week for anger management purposes.

9/24/2010 9:46:11 AM Think that you were throwing stacks of dollar bills into the garbage bin when you damage your equipment for no good cause. Maybe that will hurt a little ? You could have sold, traded, or donated the golf clubs if you dislike them that much. I had personally encountered a golf club throwing, bending episode with one of the guy I used to know. This guy blamed his poor game on a brand new Taylor Made 3 wood ( $200), and broke the shaft by smashing it against a garbage bin. I had never played a round with him again. Not only witnessing the out burst had ruined my game and my day out to relax with golf but the behavior is dangerous to other golfer's health around him. I don't know if anyone of you remembered, there was several cases of golf course accidents which changed the insurance industry. One in particular happened about 20 years ago ( it was in the News ), some golfer snapped his 5 wood around a tree, and the head with broken shaft ricochet around and struck his playing buddy in the neck with the broken end. Life was saved but the injured had sued the perpetrator's home owner's policy ( yes, accidents on the golf course used to be covered by the home owner's policy premium ), I don't know if they still play golf together, but one is a million richer. Guess what ? Golf course accidents were not covered by home owner's policy anymore, it's a separate policy which has to be purchased for additional coverage now. Case and point, if you lose your temper and control on the golf course, you will not have a good time, so wouldn't the guys playing with you. |

9/23/2010 12:32:06 AM I threw a 52 degree into a tree once and it got stuck. So I threw my 56 in after it and it got stuck also! My putter was the last one I was going to throw in there and luckly it did the trick. all three came down almost hitting me in the head!. I have never done that again! But I have never broken a club in anger......bent an iron, yes. But broken.... No. |

9/22/2010 3:58:58 PM Here is a good one.... I got so angry on a par 5 that I threw my club down the fairway only to pull it a little. Well the club ended up in a tree so yup, you guessed it... I was climbing a tree just a short time after that. To make things worse I worked at the golf course I was playing so all the people coming in behind me knew me and I had to explain why I was 1/2 way up a tree shaking limbs.... This is just one of many stories from the "I Snapped" book of golfers. I was once playing with a guy who threw his entire golf bag into a lake and then just walk off the course one day! I don't know if he ever went back to get the clubs or not. As you play longer you grow and just learn that there are going to be days. I haven't blown up in years but I can tell you about multiple times when I did. |

9/21/2010 1:41:07 PM Wow. I have dropped a few F-Bombs, but no broken clubs. That's a little too out of control for me. I would say instead of breaking a club, you should just try sitting out a hole or two. A much easier way to calm down. Btw... you should get a few of those mini alcohol bottles and put in your bag for bad days like that. Maybe a light buzz will help you relax and enjoy the game like you want to. Don't forget to have fun and don't be so hard on yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day. Take it easy |

9/21/2010 12:56:33 PM Played one time with a buddy and 2 of his not so close friends ... not a good day .. From the 2nd hole to the 13th they were ranting and cursing and throwing clubs . Came of the green and I decided I had had enough. the 14th was a par 3 and the green was open , so I didn't wait just teed it up and hacked it down the little bit of fairway cursing and swearing all the way to the green putted out took a 10 looked back to the tee and waited for the rest of them to play to the green. They finished the hole came to the 15th tee never a word was said all the way in to the clubhouse . The last 4 holes were perfect nice and quiet went par par bogey par . The other 2 guy's left right away didn't even stay for a beer. My buddy said " You did that on purpose didn't you " Of course I did and I should have done it a lot earlier . It does work. :-) |

9/21/2010 4:27:00 AM I've never broken a club out of anger, but let's just say my language is not exactly Walt Disney-approved, on the golf course or elsewhere. <g> |

9/20/2010 8:38:33 PM I pulled a Tiger this weekend and slammed my driver into the ground several times. Fortunately, I did not break a shaft. It must have helped, because the next 4 drives I hit pure, straight down the middle and very long. I think I finally figured out the hard, I mean really hard duck hook problem for me. Complete the turn and drive through the ball and extend the finish. It's when I get fast, hard and short with the follow through that I get the hooks. |

9/20/2010 7:54:28 PM I got so upset after a hole once that I threw my wedge over the green high in the air and it got stuck in a tree near the top. I spent 10 minutes climbing the tree to get it back and vowed that I would never do it again. It is just a game and the more you have fun, the better your scores will be. |
