I was very disappointed to receive an email today from the GolfRewards.net operation informing me of the termination of the EAGLE Golf courses from the rewards program. I and my golfing group play (on a weekly basis) EAGLE courses throughout DFW almost exclusively BECAUSE of the EAGLE Card and the rewards points. The rewards for loyalty to the courses is one of the biggest reasons why we each have been EAGLE card holders since the program’s inception. I hope it is EAGLE’s intent to replace the GolfRewards program with a loyalty program of your own. While the annual prepaid discounted rounds are a terrific value, once they have been used, the discount for card membership alone is not sufficient to keep us playing our favorite EAGLE courses exclusively as it does today. We used to frequently play, Tangle Ridge, Bridlewood, Tour 18, Riverchase, Coyote Ridge and Grapevine as well as several others. Since the advent of the EAGLE card and the rewards program, we typically limit our rounds to Fossil Creek, Indian Creek, Plantation, Westridge and Iron Horse. If EAGLE doesn’t implement a similar type of loyalty reward program, I am certain, because of the distances that we will probably no longer play some of these courses as frequently as we do now.
I am always impressed with the quality of the EAGLE managed courses and we will certainly continue to play some of them. That being said, these are uncertain economic times where organizations struggle to differentiate themselves from the herd and pull in every dollar possible from their customers. I am equally certain that the amount of revenue that EAGLE will lose from the five golfers in our regular Saturday groupings playing courses other than those owned or managed by EAGLE can’t possibly be of less value than providing a free round reward for spending >$500 at each course!

9/23/2010 8:59:24 AM Since they told us in the email a few weeks, I emailed Eagle last night. I did get a response this morning. The new program is taking a little longer than planned but I was told they would be sending a message out "in a few days." I asked if I could post the email response verbatim and they requested I not do so until they send the formal notice. |

9/11/2010 8:23:51 AM I too am disappointed in this move. Especially in light of the fact they cancelled a program with nothing to show for it, only promises of something in "the near future". The marketing idiots in this thing should all be fired. |

9/6/2010 5:29:39 PM Went to an Eagle Course today. They did honor the 20% off discount an said they will continue to do so until the cards expire. Pro shop guy said they are working their own program and have no idea what it will look like until corporate gets things together... |

9/3/2010 6:33:14 PM They mentioned the points in the email. I am curious if they will honor the 20% discount until the end of the year. This is the first year I have been playing courses other than Eagle, glad I started looking for new courses... |

9/3/2010 10:29:02 AM I received my email this morning too. I have the Eagle card for Phoenix, and it's a great deal. $150 will get you 6 rounds, one each at the Eagle courses here. Everyone from my knicker's group always gets it, and we play these six courses when the prices sky rocket starting in October. Starting in October, the avergae cost for the 6 courses is around $75, so 6 rounds for $150 is a steal. Too bad this is going away to include the rewards system. :-( |

9/2/2010 7:32:50 PM I got this email today too and was very disappointed. I gain most of my points at Indian Creek and Lake Park but have some at other courses in the area too. I am not sure if they are maintaining any type of points on their own or not but will be sure to ask tomorrow. |

9/2/2010 1:25:13 PM Rewards points will not be lost for EAGLE courses. They will however, have to be redeemed via a rollout coming in the next few weeks. If you have enough points for a free round(s) you will at some point be able to redeem them. Just not at this point. |

9/2/2010 12:37:59 PM I have free rounds earned by points and use the golf rewards card regularly . I wonder if I now lost these free rounds since Eagle golf discontinued the system . |

9/2/2010 10:11:17 AM Golfnow sent out a cryptic survey about reward points. I think they are going to do away with them. Their reward program is crap. I have enough points for a few rounds, but it's courses I have no interest in playing, most of them are cow pastures with gopher holes, and they are always noon tee times. The only course I would consider has a tee time of 1PM on a weekday when it's offered. |

9/2/2010 10:04:35 AM The course I play most of the time had it's own reward card. When you paid they would give you dollar for dollar in points and you could cash in your points for round of golf. Weekdays after noon was 200 points 350 before noon and 500 weekend, If you paid for my round the starter would give you the points, Now they are making it where the Computer pays you your points by the name of the the golfer playing. Why do they have to always mess with things? So what Joe was getting more points then Fred. Joe was paying for both of them. I still will get some points does not look like EAGLE is giving any points. That Sucks. You the course want to thank me for playing there, buy me a round now and then. |
