Tee Time Start @ 12:00

USGA Rules of golf will govern all play except where local rules apply.
Format: Stroke Play.....Play your own ball tee to green
Score will be determined by your gross score minus your COURSE handicap.
There will be prizes for first; second and third place NET
Will will have some challenge holes also; closest to pin; longest drive etc. and there will be prizes for these.
As an addition to the stroke play we will be playing a game we call "Up; Close and In" and there will be prizes for first; second and third for this game....Here is how this goes>>> In "Up; Close and In"; 3 types of achievments are awarded with a point. The first player in the group to get is ball on the green gets point "Up". The player in the group who is closest to the pin once ALL balls are on the green gets point "Closest". And the player in the group who is first to hole out gets point "In". If a player wins all 3 points on a hole they get double points.
"Up; Close and In" gives weaker players a chance to earn points because what matters is being first at something. For example; all members of a group tee off a PAR 4. The player who hit the worst drive (Farthest from the hole) plays first; and so has first shot at winning the "Up" point.
So; too; with closest to pin. The Best players in the group are likely to be on the green in 2 (or three on PAR 5); while the weaker players might be chipping. The closest to thje pin is only earned once ALL balls are on the green; so a player that has hacked it up the fairway maybe sitting just off the green and chipping - giving that player a great chance to win the "Close" point.
Because of these factors (and because the first person putting will be the farthest from the hole) strict golf etiquette must be enforced. The player who is away always plays first.
IMPORTANT!!!! - This will be our last Club sponsored event that will count for you filling your USGA requirement to play in at least one club sponsored event. So if you didn't play in the tourney @ Gillette on June 15th and you are not able to play in the one @ Topestone (Details under BLOGS on our clubs page) on July 24th then you must play in this tourney to remain a member of CT Hackers Golf Club. We will be having other "Fun" events through the season but they will not count as filling your requirement.
Cost is $95 per player - Includes range balls; cart; greens fees; steak dinner buffet and cost of prizes......( If you don't like Steak let me know and I will make other arrangements for you)
Please send your checks ($95) to:
(Payable to) Anthony Mascola
76 Winchester Drive
North Haven; CT 06473
Deadline will be : September 4th 2010
If you would like to play with someone let me know when you send in payment and I will do my best to get them in your foursome. To make the "Up; Close and In" portion fun there has to be a skill mix in every group.
If you have any questions let me know; ( This e-mail will be posted under BLOGS on our clubs page so you can refer to it)
Thanks;
Anthony Mascola CT Hackers Club Chairman
