It was another wonderful day in Phoenix.  The weekly winds had died down, temperatures were to be in the high 90s (normally in the 100s) by now, a perfect day for a round of 18.

Thanks to Google Maps, I arrived at the course an hour before I had planned.  I checked in, purchased my swag, and began hydrating for the day.  I sat on the patio so that I could see others come in, and hopefully over hear some conversation pertaining to the Phoenix group that was meeting that day.

At around 8:30, I moved down to my cart, and began getting everything in order, and shortly thereafter, an individual dropped off some clubs stating that he was part of a group that I was waiting for.  When he came up to the clubhouse after parking his car, I introduced myself, and told him that I was part of the same group.  He checked in, we went down to the practice facility, where we became a little confused (they had a section on grass, it was all filled, we suspected lessons, and then they had an astroturf layout).  We went over to the astroturf layout, and were going to begin hitting balls when our fearless leader came up and made introductions.

Our tee time had been delayed due to a tournament that was going on, so we practiced, and prepared for what lay ahead.

I had an amazing time with Pete and Jeff.  I found it funny that, in some way, shape or form, that we all had IT related jobs.

What was the highlight of my day? Was it the two pars or was it the birdie (my first ever)? Actually it was neither!!! The highlight of my day was standing at the snack bar, after finishing the front nine, and the lady attending us asked a question, and Jeff said "You can be as fast as the course" (she didn't like that too much. we think).  And, while talking to some gentleman who appeared to be starting out, Pete described the course as being as fast as a prom dress coming off.  Now I didn't get to go to my prom, so I don't fully comprehend that reference, but most everyone I've talked to since then has had some pretty funny reactions (a little face contorting, a whole lot of laughing, and head shaking).

To my new found friends, and fellow members of Phoenix #008, thank you for a wonderful day of golf!!!
