I am definately a type A and I think I am trying to make up for the years I missed never playing. I have actually built a spread sheet I use to keep track of a multitude of items including my swing thought. I don't use every item every time but many. also I use Golfshot GPS so it keeps track of some things. Then I have one sheet that just adds to that. I really have been focusing on the things in the short game now: green right left or center, distance of 1st putt chip, pitch distance club and right left or center. I like center!!!!
So look forward to seeing what you track.

3/11/2010 12:38:53 AM I'm a little leery of stats. I'll keep track of putts when I feel like that's off, but it is all too easy to get bogged down into stats and forget that we're trying to play golf. I think the best thing to do is simply practice after a round, just for 10-20 minutes. If there was a certain shot that eluded you, go work on it. Maybe you had too much hook with the driver. Or maybe left-to-right putts were all missing on the low side. Maybe the 20-yard pitch was iffy. So go work on it for a few minutes--right after the round--while it's fresh in your mind. Fix it, and leave. You'll see much quicker results and go home happier. As soon as you leave the golf course, stats don't mean a thing. You gotta fix the problem NOW...do a Don Knotts and "nip it in the butt." Doesn't take long...just hit a few shots until you go "Ah-ha! That's what I was doing wrong with that." If you let the problem linger in your brain and become a "statistic," that will be looming over your head next time you play. You'll be saying, "Well, I had a bunch of 3-putts last time...hope I don't do that again." Wrong! Fix it now and don't worry about it for the next round. |

3/5/2010 6:16:48 PM 100 yards in, that's a good one. I've been thinking of trying to find a way to estimate the total putting distance for a round. |

3/5/2010 12:11:23 PM I usually track FIR, GIR and Putts. I have recently been keeping track of how many shots it takes me from inside 100 yards. There is a number that I try to hit. When I reach that number my scores reflect that. |

3/5/2010 8:12:01 AM I record fairways & greens hit and how many putts & penalties. If you look at my profile blogs you will see the hole-by-hole views I use to plan my shots before a round. I use these to record with a pencil mark, the tee-box location and ball position. I record what club I used and can later use Google maps to get a pretty good read on my yardages. |
