Hey, I love Sir Charles as much as the next guy, but a man's got to know his limitations. Chuck is probably the best studio guest in the game and the best wingman you could ever want for a night in Vegas. (As long as he was paying, and as long as you weren't too concerned about the state of your marriage.) However, what he's not is an actor, as we can see here as he fumbles through the role of "Charles Barkley":
(Gotta love the shots at The Golf Channel there, too.) The more I think about it, the more I wonder -- maybe this was Charles' acting version of his golf swing -- awkward, hitchy, painful to watch yet unable not to. Maybe Barkley is our new Brando, a man working his thespian craft (I said thespian) at such a high level that the rest of us can't even perceive, much less understand it. Maybe that's it.
Because the alternative is that the guy can't read his cue cards and has the timing of a prop comic at a funeral, and that can't possibly be true.
