Last year it was Tiger from the right and Mickelson from the left. If he had pulled a rabbit out of his hat and won the Masters then it would unquestionably by Phil as the new number 1. However I would say that he and the Irishman need to share that honor now. Harrington did it all when Tiger was out recovering why is nobody giving him a chance under the same circumstances?

Mickelson is the new #1. Stricker is a top five player. McIlroy will make a run at mickelson's rank. Fowler is a nice story..lets see if he can get into a major this season. Michael Sim , and Troy Merritt will be fun to watch. I'am ready for some new blood on tour.

Is Stricker better than Tiger...is that your question? The answer is flat out no. Not even in the same ballpark. If Tiger retired would Stricker be the best player in the world. I would still say no. Top 5 right now, but I'll be honest I just don't see him holding on to a top 5.

if it all came down to putting no doubt #1,but when u consider lefty and his amazing scrambling abilities plus length.... tiger, well nevermind not going there

In a word, no. PHIL!!! Stricker's record in individual events hasn't been impressive since Deutche. But Phil, won at the tour and won in china. don't get me wrong stricker is a solid #2 or #3 but I think Phil is on top right now.

Stricker will have to battle Phil M. until Tiger comes back, if he comes back.

Phil will pull short putts left until he's #5!!

I really don't think Phil has a shot. Any one of the top 5 could make a serious move if Tiger is out for an extended period of time. I just don't see it happening.

He has become more consistent every year. He wouldn't make a flashy #1 but now that Freddy's 50 and his future on the regular is grim, I think Stricker is my new favourite. Unless Big John is in the field :)

I believe you are right but he will need to follow up last year with another one just like it and he is going to have to battle a hungry Phil as well!
