After 3 tries in 6 years I finally made the base team where I work as an active duty Marine. Weather was bad and not the best scores but I won the final spot in a one hole playoff (I have never been so nervous over a 4 ft par putt in my life). I owe a huge thanks to LPGA teaching pro Mary Ritchie who I have only taken two lessons from but not only has she given me great technical help but has mixed in great mental lessons without my even knowing about it until after the lesson and reflecting on the time on the range with her. "This is a game", "Wow, are you always this intense?", "Isn't it fun to forget about your swing and just hit nice shots?". I have always believed that the mental part of the game is huge but I think I am starting to realize just how MUCH it is a part.
