    Just saw this post
Couldn't agree more about Granite Links (I used to swim in the quarry called "icebox" up there).
People cannot call that a "links" course, mainly because if you've played a REAL links course- it is on the ocean- and if you've played in the birthplace of the game you understand that the term "links" refers not to the design, but because the course is the land "linking" the ocean/beach to the farmland. Pretty much unusable for farmers because of the sandy dirt.
In order to build the Granite links course properly they would have had to spend millions more blowing granite out of the way. They went cheap and built within the contour of the space. I've played there twice, but dislike the whole course. The best thing about [the course] is the driving range and the fact that I can get there in 10 minutes.
The marketers are trying to make this course something like the Freedom Trail and the Boston Marathon but in reality it is built with fill from the "Big Dig" and someone's

did anyone else have trouble adding a course to their favorites? every course I select it tells me I can't add it. I need to post my scores and get a handicap for a tournament

Do not pay $90 to play at Granite Links. Tough course sure. But, they have no business commanding this exorbitant off season rate, let alone the peak season rate which is much higher. Right from the start, no help getting my cart to driving range. "Free token" for range balls? At this price, why am I getting my own range balls? I put the token in the machine and got half a small bucket!!! Greens were awful. Carts on the path only. Snack bar was closed. A lot of the course is at higher elevation than everything around it, so fantastic views of Boston (but I have the same view from my house) and the winds are insane, making a difficult course impossible. It's supposed to be designed as a "links course" but I've played in Scotland (at Gullane Hill) one of the oldest golf courses in the world, host to Open Championship qualifying rounds multiple times, among many other top tournaments. Very different experience. Granite Links is difficult in ways that make no sense. Target golf at

Forgive my ignorance but any scores posted prior to April 1st don't count towards hc? Thank you

Anyone from the Boston Area want to round up a tournament this season? Reply if you're interested and I'll set it up

I have more than 5 scores loaded and I still have not received a Handicap. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Probably too late for this season, but is anyone interested in running a club tournament with this group? email me if interested and maybe we can get a solid group of players to get this thing rolling.

Does anyone know if there are any club tournaments throughout the season?

    Hi All,

We have had a couple subtractions in our golf league this year. We are looking for 2 permanent spares to fill in our spare group. The league SSAGL has been playing on Sunday mornings at Ridder Farm Golf Club in Whitman, MA since the late 70's. We have 6 tee times every Sunday morning starting at 5:50AM. This is a great time for dads who want to play but have difficulty finding the time. I personally am home by 10:30 - 11:00 and get very little resistance from my wife. We have golfers with handicap ranges from 12 - 32 with the A/B divide being at a 16 HC. Players are all male and range in age from 30 - 80. The league has 10 teams and usually 4 spares to fill in for absences. We play 2 nine week halves and 2 tournaments for a 20 week season not including rain outs. If you are interested in joining our league please contact the president, Peter Cardia at pcardia@comcast.net

Has anyone at this club thought about also making this a "club w/o real estate" that is recognized by the MGA, too? Might that allow members to join both orgs. and get a GHIN number, too?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me out, does anyone know how I go about obtaining a GHIN number through Boston #126 - I was under the impression that through paying for the membership here that I would receive one, but not sure about how to go about getting one. Appreciate the help.

    Thanks
    Brett
