Oh, I also forgot to mention this. You don't want to do this very often, but if you want to get on a private track (as long as it's not a super-exclusive club), you can always call and say that you are interested in membership and would like to play the course to see what you think about it. You can then play for the standard guest rate. Like I said, though, you don't want to make a habit of that. You can only play the course once if you do that anyway. And of course, that ain't gonna work at a place like Colonial or something. But the little private tracks will usually let you play.

Marv, I'm a member at Oakmont CC up in Denton, which is also owned by ClubCorp, so I get to play on several of the courses they own in D/FW. Since I moved to Carrollton, I'm about 20 minutes from each course!

You could possibly think about Shady Valley up in Arlington. I think it's a good bit less expensive than Walnut Creek, but you could probably still get to play @ Walnut if you wanted. Depending on how often you can play, membership may actually be a cheaper route to go!

Awesome round Tim!!!! Did you know you were playing about 1 mile from my house? I would like to play this course but it is members only and I can't afford the membership. How did you get in?

Tell me about it. The double was an inexplicably lost ball. We all saw it land, right next to the green, kinda tailing a little right. Never found it. There's another teebox near that green...maybe somebody picked it up! Anyway, the other two bogeys on the back 9 were missed short putts. Dumb stuff.

Yes it's common for golfers to hate hooks. Not everybody does, but most do. Reason is, a slice will usually stop somewhere...hooks just keep on rolling, usually into trouble.

Best shot was on #5. Very long par 4, about 460...hit a 4-iron from about 190 that actually ringed around the cup and stopped 6 inches away. Kick-in birds on long par 4s always feel nice!

4 bogeys and a double is unacceptable. Need to work on that Tim... I hate seeing the ball going left as well, is it common for golfers to hate a hook more than a slice? Because it sounds like you have that, and I know I do.

Experimenting with my newly shortened driver (43"). Like the look at address, but the ball's going left...which I DO NOT like! Anyway, could have been a lot better if I was finding the fairway, but overall a good round. This was my first time playing this course. Very nice little track, about 6800 yards or so, lots of pretty pecan trees, very small greens. Have to be an accurate ballstriker, but there's birdies to be had.
