8/9/2011 7:23:04 PM After two months of not picking up a golf club, I play by my standards a remarkable game. This is one of those rounds the golf gods give you so you don't give up the game. Take away two O/Bs and two three putt greens (I should have made them both) and I am staring at an 80! I haven't done that since high school! A string of five straight pars on the front where I hit a 5, 6 and 7 iron on holes 5, 6 and 7 to approximately 20 feet below the hole every time. Unfortunately I couldn't do better than par. On #8 I almost chipped in for the birdie. I had to wait until 10 to get my one birdie, a 7 iron out of the rough to one foot of the pin. Towards the latter part of the back nine the weather started to do me in. At 98 degrees I thought I was going to pass out before I was done. I just made it home (I live on hole #6) prior to getting light headed and seeing spots before my eyes. It was a wierd feeling and my wife wanted to take me to the ER. Now I can't wait to do it again. My mind was clear (no I do not have a clear head) and I didnt overanalzye the game. I took less practice swings and just had an overall good time. I wasn't expecting much but I played my best overall game of the year thus far. I just hope this isn't a one time thing for me this year. |
