Yup. I suppose it didn't help that I was using a putter I hadn't used in a while...my old MacGregor Ironmaster blade...I like to change things up a bit from time to time to get a change of scenery. It's a great putter but a totally different feel.

And yeah man, I ain't scared of long par 4s because I'm generally good with my long irons. And I enjoy the challenge of hitting long clubs into the green. #18 is a good example. It's 435 on the card, but a creek crosses midway down the fairway. It's a 270 carry over it, and 230 to the end of the fairway in front of it. I don't have 270 carry, especially with persimmons, so of course I laid up. I hit 1-iron off the box but didn't catch it particularly well. Still in the fairway, but not in position...had a tree about 75 yards in front of me to contend with between myself and the green--not totally blocking me, but enough that I needed to get the ball up quickly to make sure there was no problem. Had 227 on the stick according to the

Thanks Jay. I was actually playing the persimmon woods today too. #8 had the tees moved up by the way...they were only about 450. It was straight downwind as well...hit about a 290 poke out there and had a 7 iron in, right in my wheelhouse...came right out of it and left it short right. Stupid! #15 (the other long one) was dead into the wind though, so that 450 played a lot longer. Hit a pretty good draw off the tee but it was a little too high, got caught up and only went about 250. I had 210 left to the back pin...hit my 1 iron and didn't get all of it, left it on the front right fringe...chipped up to 5 feet and missed. Stupid again! #17 was a par 5, so 484 was quite short, although it was straight into the wind as well so it was a 3-shotter.

Had one of those days too Tim; mine was a Par 70. Too many bad bogeys not hitting driver well and putting sub par. Sort of surprised at the rating, because there are some robust Par 4s and a couple long Par 5s... that Texas wind must come into play. They should add 10 more points onto that slope rating; not too many bogey golfers getting bogey on 2 484 yd Par 4s. Love seeing how you step it up; go get em next time!

Played hookie from work, and rewarded myself by putting absolutely terrible. If I hit 12 greens, I should generally be at or below par. And I wasn't just hitting greens...I had six balls inside 15 feet and only made one (#17), and only two long lags (#5 and #18). The other four were around 20 feet. So basically, I was hitting it really good. Time to hit the practice green again, I guess!
