Okay, been playing golf for 44 years now. First played with my dad around 1972 in the 7th grade. After dozens of close calls over the years, it took until 2010 for my 1st ace. A 4 iron from the Blues on Rustic Canyon #6, playing with GDR23 & our buddy Steve. Did not see it go in.
Took 5 1/2 more years for ace #2 on #17 @ PGA West (Norman) last Sunday in the GK Outing, see above with Lotrgolfer48, allan_grant & sixpez. This one was great because I could actually see it go in the hole. My next round after PGA West was yesterday. Invited out by 140ver to join him and his buddy Tom @ the Golf Club of California in Fallbrook. They were using AD vouchers. It was a course I had always wanted to play but never had, so I was utilizing my week of B-Day round. After hearing the story about Sunday's perfect 7 iron, we started play in totally overcast, gloomy conditions which made it hard to see. Not great background contrast, because their poa annua greens are lighter in color than many courses greens and the sky was wall to wall gray. Took less than 18 holes for ace #3... #16 was playing 167 from the Blues. Hit a nice high, straight 7 iron that was online all the way. I was pretty sure it landed close. Mike thought it went in, I thought it was right beside the hole. Truth was, none of us could see well enough to know for sure. We are driving up and there is no ball on the green. Walk up to the hole, and sure enough, in the HOLE! Ballmark app. 1' directly in front of the hole... Ace #3 in 44 years and Ace #2 of the week! As a sheer guesstimate, I would throw out these numbers... 2,000 rounds as a reasonable approximation for the amount of golf I have played in my lifetime. Assuming an average of 4 par 3's per 18, that is 8,000 hole in one opportunities. Round that up because I have probably played at least 2 dozen + rounds lifetime on par 3 courses where all 18 holes were par 3's. So while I cannot tell you exactly how many par 3's I have played, 8,200 is probably in the ballpark. Considering I had played around 6,000 of those par 3's before my 1st ace and a couple thousand more before my 2nd... is it not insane that my 3rd came 17 total holes and 4 par 3's after the 2nd? |

That is pretty crazy. I have been playing this game for about 55 yrs now and have not had one, so the odds of ever getting one aren't very good, but you never know as we can see by your story. Being a Cub fan we can look to Jake Arrieta not ever having a no hitter, then having two in twelve starts. So these things do happen. Congrats.

Pretty amazing. I guess you could say the floodgates burst open for you. I'm in the midst of my ninth year playing golf and I've never holed out a shot from over 75 yards, much less made a hole in one, yet I've managed to shoot quite a few rounds in the mid 70's before. It's a funny game.

Just GO s tonshownyou it doesn't matter how good or bad you aren't this game. Any ball that hits the green has a chance. Sadly, after 21 years I'm still waiting on my first.

My first one was during the 5th ever full round of golf I played (and was on my birthday). Fast forward to college, I played in a tournament in North Florida and got one on a now defunct golf course that are condos. 10 years ago during my Alumni Weekend in N FL, I hit my 3rd and that cost me a $600 bar tab. Nothing since then, so I am hoping for the reverse of you. LOTS of Par 3s and lots of close calls since... so it TIME, Damnit!

My first one was during the 5th ever full round of golf I played (and was on my birthday). Fast forward to college, I played in a tournament in North Florida and got one on a now defunct golf course that are condos. 10 years ago during my Alumni Weekend in N FL, I hit my 3rd and that cost me a $600 bar tab. Nothing since then, so I am hoping for the reverse of you. LOTS of Par 3s and lots of close calls since... so it TIME, Damnit! that was the 210 yard par 3 that you hit a 5 iron into wasn't it? |

I went 12 years in between the 2 aces I got. One of my buddies went 14 years before getting his first ace and then got his 2nd one 5 weeks later. How you doing EJ? Don't see you to often on here. |
