Some of you won't care but I thought this was funny after the round was over. Not while I was playing. My wife and I played at Bear Creek Golf World-The Master's Course. My wife is learning and has a 24 handicap right now. She hits the ball fairly decent for her level and when she tags a good tee shot can hit it maybe 200 yards. When she hits her maximum strokes which is a triple, she picks up so she doesn't hold anyone up. I do the same. So Saturday we were paired up with two guys that determined on the first tee that they were playing the BLUE TEES. None of my business if you play back there but I do expect you to be less than a ten or so to play the Blue Tees on this course. By the way, I played the White Tees.

Needless to say, these two guys had no business on the Blue Tees. They should have been playing tees more forward than the Red Tees. My wife hit the ball better than they did and she outdrove them repeatedly. Heck, anytime she hit the fairway she outdrove them. They were playing for money and they started friendly enough. But as they played on and their games got progressively worse they began to snipe at each other. They began to be concerned about things like how casually the other was moving the ball from a dirt area or roped off area. My wife and I kept to ourselves and we spent 4 1/2 hours constantly waiting for these two to hit their third or fourth shot up to where we were so that we could hit our second shots. Anyway, on number nine, as we walked off the green, after they both hit a couple in the water I overheard one of them tell the other; "I won that hole. I made a nine and you had a ten."

The worst two players I have ever seen attempt to play from the Blue Tees on the Master's Course. They were rarely in the fairway. They constantly drove to adjacent fairways to play a ball and they would then chunk three or four more as they made their way back to the green. It became quite comical to see these two guys play. At the end I asked one of them who won. He said the other guy did. " I couldn't hit the ball today. I worked all night and didn't get a chance to warm up." If the course hadn't been so jammed up, I would have left them and gone on. I was actually surprised that we played as quick as we did. My wife and I had to wait on them constantly.

Anyway Mrs. Lincoln, other than that, how was the play?

You have provided the perfect example of why certain golfers should tee it forward. However, common sense rarely wins out over ego.

Joe, this sounds like any given day at Cobbs Creek. Gsollars, were these guys wearing wife beaters and cutoff jeans? I think that after 9 holes I would have headed to the pro shop and asked for a 9 hole raincheck after explaining the situation.

They were not wearing wife-beaters. My wife and I just kind of enjoyed the experience. I am not exaggerating when I say that they had to have shot 120 to 130 each. And they played from the Blue Tees!

Since I paid our green fees with cash, I knew I wouldn't get a refund; just a raincheck if even that. Had I been alone I would have gone to the clubhouse and tried to get a refund and said something to the employees. It's been my experience that bear Creek doesn't promote timely play. Unfortunately, the groups in front of us were not much better so we never developed the huge distance between us that might have alerted a marshall.

It was hilarious at times when they were so intent on a 3-foot putt for a 10 or higher! If I had allowed it to get to me I would have had a lousy day even though I shot a poor score for me, a 90. Last time I played Bear Creek a few months ago, I scored 75.

By the way, I don't blame them for my own poor play. I'm working with an instructor to make a better turn so that and the super slow greens accounted for my high score.
