No choice really 2 of the 4 majors would not have allowed long putters and I would bet that the Masters would have gone along with the US and British Opens.

...and yet from what I've seen 90% of golfers cannot in even general terms accurately describe what the new rule is. I'm not sure about your 90% figure, but suffice it to say the official USGA "EXPLANATION OF DECISION TO ADOPT RULE 14-1B OF THE RULES OF GOLF" is FORTY PAGES LONG!!! |

Golf clap for the PGA Tour! OK, the right decision has come down far too late. Can we stop the talk of "why didn't they do it 20 years ago". It can be the most drawn out 40 page rule in the entire rule book... just get it right. Let's get back to letting more deserving players win majors who don't have to revert to gimmicks. Pssst... you actually have to putt now and let nerves enter the equation. Oh Yeah, those who you who had Yips and sucked at putting a few years ago... you now have to be GOOD putters. Wow, what a model concept?! |

DAMN that sucks.... I wish this wasn't happening, awewell I have 3 years to better my game before making the switch. Even at that juncture i'll be that much closer to the hole anyways so I'll just have to make more 10 footers from now on out.

The next move by certain players will be interesting. If they do pursue with a lawsuit, will they be viewed as pariahs or hero's by the rest. Either way a lawsuit will be a no win situation for all involved litigants.
