I understand both sides but why wait until 2016 for the rule to take effect. It would be better to make the change now and end all the buzz.

I'm good with it either way too. You still have to putt the ball into the hole.
It does not take until 2016, I think players will be able to adjust in 3 years.

THIS IS F***ING BULL ****!

I HOPE THE PGA TOUR FIGHTS BACK AND DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THESE GOVERNING BODIES, LIKE THEY SAID IN THE ARTICLE
"IT"S LIKE MOVING THE GOAL POSTS IN A FOOT BALL GAME"
IT"S BEEN TOO LONG FOR THEM TO CHANGE IT NOW.

I HOPE THIS SPORT TAKES A HIT LIKE THE STOCK MARKET BECAUSE OF THIS.

I HOPE THE MANUFACTURERS SUE THE S*** OUT OF THE USGA

I HOPE SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING!!!!!!!!

The USGA is a governing body. They went with it. Done deal now.

2016 is when their next rule cycle takes effect.

I hate to say I told you so. I wrote an essay about the ban for an English class. I wanted to post it to the site somewhere but they don't allow blogs. In researching the USGA position from the tone and direction of the information put out there was no way that this ban was not going to be approved. We will have to swing all 14 club in 2016, I for one am glad.

I am not sure why people that anchor are getting so mad about this; I know why. Anchoring doesn't help them putt better. It doesn't make the hole bigger, so switching should be easy.

I'm quite sure that complaining and whining about the rules are not consistent with the spirit of the game. Let us move to next hole and continue to play the game we all love according to the rules. Neither life nor golf are fair. That's the point. It's how we handle adversity that defines us.

Will be interesting to see who use's the 2 1/2 year time frame to adapt to a conventional putting method and who hangs on to the security blanket as long as they can.

Keep eye on Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley - let's see if it makes a difference

Can't really change mid-season since everyone has not had time to practice with regular length putters - i think if they switched now it would be a big advantage to those who are using anchored puters

Some lawyers will be planning their retirement from the possible litigation against the ruling.
The anchoring had been grand fathered in through out the years of allowing it to be used in competition.

Honestly I see NO difference to recreational golfers like us. I've been playing for 17 years and NEVER have I seen someone using a belly putter or long putter. I've played in the Myrtle Beach World Am (3000+ golfers) for the past 3 years and not once have I seen anyone with an anchored putter. Rarely have I ever seen a long putter in a golf shop. If this affects even 1/2 of 1% of golfers I think it would be a lot. A whole lot of hulabaloo about absolutely nothing.
